About The Role

Role: Plant Engineer - Electric Utilities Location: Hosur : Hosur, Tamil Nadu Reporting to: Head - Plant and Industrial Engineering Team Name: Manufacturing Operations About the Team and the Role The Manufacturing Operations team at Ather is responsible for managing our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, overseeing plant layout planning, implementing industrial utilities, and ensuring operational readiness for production lines. This role is for a Plant Engineer - Electric Utilities who will lead electrical utility project design, budget estimation, execution, statutory compliance, and energy conservation initiatives at our manufacturing sites. Responsibilities Oversee electrical projects from design to implementation for greenfield and brownfield manufacturing environments, including comprehensive layout planning. Design, prepare, and scrutinize electrical drawings and Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) to align project specifications for execution. Direct and collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) contractors to verify specifications and execute process utility modifications, enhancements, and new installations. Formulate operational and capital expenditure (Capex/Opex) budgets, conduct financial assessments, and estimate costs for internal utility projects. Monitor plant utility consumption, spearhead energy-saving initiatives, and direct green projects to optimize operating costs and minimize carbon footprint. Facilitate periodic energy audits, ensure timely closure of non-conformances, and secure or renew key regulatory approvals such as CEIG compliance. Establish, track, and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across your areas of responsibility to maintain high operational standards. Deliver technical expertise to internal teams and continuously elevate the operational skills of team members. Experience and Qualifications B.E/B.Tech in Electrical engineering or related field 8 to 12 years of experience in Electrical Utility design and execution Must Have Competencies Electrical Utility Design and Layout Planning : Ability to design, prepare, and verify industrial electrical layouts and complex Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) for plant utilities. Industrial Utility Project Management : Capability to execute utility installations and process utility enhancements from initial scoping to final deployment. Capex and Opex Financial Estimation : Experience formulating operational budgets, conducting financial feasibility studies, and executing precise cost estimation. Statutory Compliance and Licensing : Knowledge of regional electrical regulations, CEIG approval procedures, and standard industrial utility safety practices. Good to Have Competencies Energy Management and Green Initiatives : Skill in conducting energy audits, analyzing electrical consumption data, and deploying carbon-reduction or energy-saving technologies. MEP Contractor Management : Competence in drafting specifications, conducting design reviews, and managing external contractors to meet engineering requirements. Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Administration : Ability to set operational targets, track equipment performance, and analyze systems to lower machinery operating costs. Process Utility Enhancement : Understanding of complex process utilities to plan layout modifications alongside active manufacturing assembly lines. Want to know more?
