Senior Software Engineer (Backend, Retail DEX)

Join Coinbase as a Senior Software Engineer in the Retail DEX team. You'll build software systems that integrate off-chain and on-chain trading, optimize the trading stack, and drive iteration on agentic-first development patterns. Candidates should have experience with on-chain smart contracts, data-intensive systems, and backend software engineering.

• Proven experience designing and integrating with onchain smart contracts on EVM (Ethereum, Base) or Solana, with deep understanding of the programming models of one or more of these virtual machines
• Hands-on experience designing data-intensive systems and integrating with large-scale data infrastructure such as Kafka, Clickhouse, Starrocks, Temporal, and Redis
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality
• Demonstrated ability to build, iterate on, and improve agentic-first code repositories and software systems in production environments
• 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering with demonstrated success building and operating data systems or data pipelines in production
