About The Role

About the role We are hiring our first dedicated tax lead to own the company’s tax function globally. You will be responsible for Singapore corporate tax and for the indirect tax compliance arising from our Singapore entity’s sales of digital services to players across many countries. This role requires the ability to be hands-on at the start, working with the leverage of external advisors. As the function matures, you will design the operating model, decide what to keep in-house and what to outsource, and lead a team where needed. Key responsibilities Own Singapore corporate income tax compliance and advisory, including ECI and Form C filings, tax provisions, Singapore GST, and correspondence with IRAS. Lead global indirect tax compliance for our Singapore entity’s cross-border digital services: VAT, GST, consumption tax and sales tax across the EU (including OSS), UK, US, Japan, Korea, Australia and other markets. This covers registrations, filings, payments, and monitoring of thresholds and nexus. Build scalable compliance processes, calendars and controls across jurisdictions. Select and manage external advisors and outsourced providers, and drive tax technology or automation where it adds value. Advise on cross-border direct tax matters, including permanent establishment risk, withholding tax and treaty relief on payments to overseas vendors and platforms, transfer pricing and intercompany arrangements across group entities, digital services taxes, and Pillar Two. Act as the tax voice to management. Translate technical tax issues into clear business options, risks and recommendations. Make independent decisions on day-to-day matters, and bring key decisions to management with a clear point of view. Partner with Finance, Legal and HR on payroll tax, employee mobility, tax clauses in contracts, and new business initiatives. Manage tax inquiries and audits with tax authorities globally. Monitor legislative developments in key markets and assess their impact on the business. Minimum qualifications 8+ years of tax experience. Solid knowledge of Singapore corporate income tax and GST. Practical experience with cross-border indirect tax compliance for digital services, e-commerce or online platforms in major markets such as the EU, UK, US and Japan. CPA, CA, ACCA, CTA, Singapore Chartered Tax Professional, or equivalent professional qualification. Hands-on working style, comfortable doing the detailed work yourself. Sound judgment and the ability to make decisions independently. Ability to explain complex tax matters in plain business language to senior leaders without a tax background. Excellent written and spoken English. Preferred qualifications Big 4 tax experience, combined with in-house experience. Experience in gaming, internet, apps or digital platform businesses. Experience with Pillar Two / global minimum tax, including impact assessment, data readiness and compliance (e.g. GloBE Information Return, Singapore MTT/DTT). Familiarity with app store and marketplace-facilitator tax rules and direct-to-consumer payment models. Experience building a tax function, processes or team from the ground up. Working knowledge of transfer pricing, Pillar Two and digital services taxes. Experience with tax technology such as Avalara or Vertex, or with automating compliance. Additional language skills (e.g. Mandarin, Japanese or Korean) will be a bonus to communicate with partners in other regions. What we value Ownership and a bias toward getting things done. Discretion in handling highly confidential business and financial information. Pragmatism: finding compliant solutions that work for the business.
