Are you a dedicated mental health clinician or specialist looking to blend program leadership with impactful direct care? Prairie View is seeking a dynamic Group Team Lead & Crisis Services Specialist in Hillsboro, KS.
In this pivotal role, you will take the lead on building and running our psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) group programs—designing evidence-based curriculum, organizing groups, and guiding Case Managers during the school year (in-school and after-school) and throughout the summer. Additionally, you will serve as a key crisis response specialist and liaison between Prairie View, local schools, community resources, and state facilities.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
Group Leadership & Curriculum Design
- Curriculum Building & Oversight: Identify, establish, and implement evidence-based PSR group curricula across the county for year-round and summer programming.
- Group Management: Organize and actively run group sessions in schools, after-school settings, and community locations.
- Team Supervision & Coaching: Provide ongoing direction, observation, and training to Case Managers and support staff running groups, ensuring high standards and curriculum fidelity.
- Community & School Outreach: Meet with local partners and school leaders to expand and strengthen group programming and crisis support across the region.
Crisis Intervention & Community Support
- Immediate Crisis Response: Deliver strength-based crisis intervention services in homes, schools, and community settings, developing immediate crisis resolution and long-term prevention plans.
- Outreach & Prevention: Assist clinicians in identifying at-risk youth and engaging families in proactive crisis support and problem-solving.
- Resource Linking & Advocacy: Connect families with essential community resources, teach life and parenting skills, and advocate for client rights across system levels.
- Facility Liaison: Serve as the Prairie View Liaison to State Hospitals and Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTFs), attending collaborative treatment planning meetings for shared clients.
Direct Clinical Care & Care Coordination
- Strength-Based Interventions: Deliver individual, family, and group services aligned with treatment plans set by Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs).
- Child & Adolescent Focus: Apply strong knowledge of child/adolescent development, safety risk factors, and boundary management to maintain safe, supportive care environments.
- Inter-Agency Collaboration: Provide case consultations and participate in multi-disciplinary care meetings with internal teams and external agencies.
Patient Transportation: Must maintain a valid Kansas Driver’s License, pass a driver’s license check, and provide proof of current personal automobile insurance to transport clients for services and activities.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field of behavioral health sciences or equivalent
- Minimum Experience: Demonstrated skills in the provision of case management
- Must be at least 20 years of age
- Must have good listening skills, verbal skills, and written communication skills
- Must be able to observe patient demeanor and non-verbal communication for assessment purposes
- Must be able and willing to have some flexibility in scheduling, to meet patient and organization needs
- Must maintain Kansas State licensure and appropriate CEU’s where applicable
- Must be able to communicate effectively with referral sources and external care providers
- Must have ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, and their families
- Must be able to understand the special needs and behaviors of and be able to care for children and adolescents ages 2-18 (up to 22 years old if on the Waiver)
- Must have a valid Kansas driver’s license and be insurable through Prairie View insurance company.
- Must be able to pass physical restraining program
- Must be able to bend, squat, and kneel to do physical activities with children
- Must be proficient at basic keyboarding/word-processing skills
- Must be able to pass Kansas Bureau of Investigation Screen, Central Registry Screen, and DCF (Kansas Dept. for Children & Families, formerly SRS) background check
