Make a real difference in your community
Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier, more independent lives? Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

About the Role:

As a Recovery Worker, you'll build positive and professional relationships with the people living at Maple House, working alongside them to develop the skills, confidence and independence they need to achieve their personal goals.
No two days will be the same. You could be supporting someone to develop their cooking or budgeting skills, helping them attend a health appointment, exploring education or employment opportunities, supporting them with their medication or encouraging them to take part in activities within their local community.
You'll also provide emotional and mental health support, helping people recognise their strengths, manage challenges and make choices about their own recovery.
As a key worker, you'll have responsibility for a caseload of individuals. You'll work collaboratively with them to develop personalised support plans, identify meaningful goals, complete regular key-working sessions and review their progress.
You'll also work closely with care coordinators, healthcare professionals and other partner organisations to ensure people receive joined-up support that reflects their individual needs.
As Maple House provides 24-hour support, you'll be part of a team ensuring residents receive consistent, high-quality support throughout the day and night.
What You’ll Do

  • Build positive, professional and trusting relationships with the people we support.
  • Provide person-centred, strengths-based and recovery-focused support.
  • Support individuals to identify and achieve meaningful personal goals and aspirations.
  • Develop, implement and regularly review personalised support plans.
  • Complete regular one-to-one key-working sessions with the individuals on your caseload.
  • Help people develop practical daily living skills, including cooking, shopping, cleaning and managing their home.
  • Support individuals with medication in line with their agreed support plans, while encouraging greater understanding and independence.
  • Promote positive mental health, emotional wellbeing, physical health and healthy lifestyles.
  • Support people to access education, training, employment, volunteering and other meaningful activities.
  • Help individuals attend GP, hospital and other health or professional appointments where required.
  • Support people to engage with their local community and access appropriate services and resources.
  • Provide housing-related support and help people develop the skills needed to maintain their tenancy and greater independence.
  • Complete and regularly review risk assessments and respond appropriately to changes in an individual's needs or circumstances.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, incidents and emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes, support plans, medication information and other documentation, including records on SystmOne.
  • Work collaboratively with care coordinators, healthcare professionals and other agencies involved in an individual's support.
  • Contribute to effective communication and handovers between shifts to ensure continuity of care and support.

To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need:

  • A compassionate, patient and non-judgemental approach to supporting others.
  • A genuine interest in mental health, recovery and helping people develop greater independence.
  • The ability to build positive and professional relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to provide practical and emotional support in a person-centred way.
  • An understanding of the importance of choice, dignity, independence and involving people in decisions about their own support.
  • The ability to recognise and respond appropriately to risk and safeguarding concerns.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • The confidence to work independently when required while contributing positively as part of a wider team.
  • Basic IT skills and the ability to learn and confidently use electronic recording systems.
  • The ability to remain calm and respond appropriately to changing or challenging situations.
  • Flexibility to work across a 24-hour rota, including early, day and late shifts, sleep-ins, weekends and bank holidays.

Previous experience within mental health, supported living, social care, housing, health or another support environment would be advantageous. However, we also welcome applications from people who can demonstrate the right values, transferable skills and commitment to supporting people in their recovery.
Working Pattern:
Maple House operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so flexibility is an important part of this role.
Your rota may include:

  • Early, day and late shifts
  • Sleep-in shifts
  • Weekends
  • Bank holidays

Sleep-in shifts require you to remain at Maple House overnight and be available to respond to residents if required, in accordance with Waythrough's policies and procedures.
