Senior Cost Accountant

<p>Compensation: $80k+</p>
<p>The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing and reporting manufacturing costs, inventory, product margins, and financial performance. This role partners with operations, purchasing, supply chain, and finance teams to improve cost controls, maintain accurate financial records, and support business decisions</p>
<p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities: </strong></p>
<ul>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">Perform monthly closing activities related to inventory, manufacturing costs, and cost of goods sold. </span></li>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">Analyze product costs, labor, overhead, material variances, and manufacturing expenses. </span><span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>Maintain and review standard costs and update cost models as needed. <span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>Prepare and analyze inventory valuations, reserves, and reconciliations. <span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>Investigate purchase price, production, labor, and overhead variances. <span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>Prepare monthly cost and variance reports for management. </li>
<li>Support sales with cost card analysis for RFQs.</li>
<li>Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. <span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>Assist with physical inventory counts and inventory audits. <span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>Develop and maintain cost accounting procedures and internal controls. <span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to identify cost-saving opportunities. <span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>Assist with financial and external audits. </li>
<li>Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations. <span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies. <span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>Identify process improvements and automate or streamline reporting where possible</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Experience, Skills, Education and Abilities Required for Consideration as a Candidate:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. </span></li>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">4–7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a </span><strong><span data-contrast="auto">manufacturing or cost accounting</span></strong><span data-contrast="auto"> environment. </span></li>
<li>Strong understanding of inventory accounting and standard costing. <span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>Experience with D365 is a plus. <span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookups, and financial analysis. <span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. <span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>Effective communication skills with both finance and operational teams.</li>
<li>Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet month-end deadlines. <span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
<li>CPA, CMA, or other professional certification is often preferred but not required.<span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></li>
