The Team
You will join the EMEA Commercial team based in London, reporting to the Head of UK Sales.
We operate at the intersection of credit markets and digital innovation — deploying AI-powered analytics, automated CRM tools, and machine learning–driven market intelligence to sharpen client insights and power relationship strategy across the region. Commercially focused, data-driven, and forward-looking, our team is redefining how S&P Global Ratings engages with issuers, intermediaries, and market stakeholders across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Responsibilities and Impact
- Execute the full business development cycle for S&P Global Ratings across Corporate Finance sectors in the UK & Ireland — from opportunity origination through identification, proposal, negotiation, and contract closing — leveraging AI-assisted workflow tools and automated proposal generation to drive deal velocity and commercial precision.
- Build and manage senior-level relationships with C-suite decision-makers across finance, treasury, corporate development, and IR functions, using predictive CRM analytics and machine learning–powered intelligence to deepen engagement and identify revenue opportunities across the UK & Ireland market.
- Drive proactive client, rating advisor and other influencer outreach through targeted senior-level meetings and coordinated commercial initiatives, deploying automated market monitoring and AI-powered trend analysis to stay ahead of credit rating and sustainable finance developments.
- Identify, scope, and convert upsell and cross-sell opportunities by translating client intelligence into actionable commercial proposals — collaborating with Ratings Product Development and wider S&P Global segments to bring new solutions to market through predictive opportunity scoring.
- Partner with Marketing and Market Outreach to design and execute UK, Ireland and Netherlands business growth campaigns using automated campaign management tools, ensuring full alignment with S&P Global's regulatory and compliance frameworks.
- Apply an enterprise-wide perspective to all commercial activity — connecting regional operational execution to broader strategic vision while monitoring external market trends to inform product evolution and enhancement across the Ratings business.
What We're Looking For
Basic Required Qualifications
- Experience: An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 8+ years of progressive experience in business development or client relationship management within financial services, capital markets, or credit markets — with a demonstrated record of originating and closing complex commercial mandates at senior levels.
- Domain Expertise: Demonstrated, expert-level command of Debt Capital Markets (DCM) and corporate and/or public finance, including direct experience managing the full commercial cycle with Corporates and regional/local government issuers.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Proven track record of conducting senior-level engagement with C-suite, finance, and treasury decision-makers — with documented ability to manage multi-stakeholder negotiations and consistently deliver against revenue targets.
- Language: English (professional proficiency) — written and spoken — is mandatory for this role.
- Regional Market Knowledge: Demonstrated experience conducting business in the United Kingdom and/or Ireland, with a strong understanding of issuer needs across Corporates and Public Finance, and willingness to travel regularly within the UK & Ireland region.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Banking.
- CRM Platforms: Active, hands-on user of Salesforce CRM or a comparable AI-powered CRM platform with pipeline management, predictive analytics, and client intelligence functionality.
- Data & Automation: Experience applying data analytics or sales automation tools to optimise commercial workflows, client segmentation, and engagement strategies.
- Ratings Ecosystem: Direct prior exposure to S&P Global Ratings products, services, and their application across issuer segments (Corporates, Public Finance, Financial Institutions).
- Digital & Fintech: Involvement in fintech or digital transformation initiatives, or experience integrating AI/machine learning capabilities into financial services commercial processes.
