East Jefferson General Hospital, part of LCMC Health, is seeking a fellowship-trained Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join our expanding cardiovascular anesthesia team. As our cardiothoracic surgery program continues to grow, candidates will have the opportunity to support a broad range of complex procedures, from routine CABG and valve surgeries to heart and lung transplantation.

Position Highlights
The Cardiac Anesthesiologist is responsible for directing anesthesia and sedation services throughout the hospital while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, quality, and clinical excellence.
Responsibilities include:

  • Providing comprehensive perioperative anesthesia care for cardiothoracic surgical patients
  • Performing pre-anesthesia evaluations and post-anesthesia assessments within established timelines
  • Directing anesthesia and sedation services in accordance with nationally recognized standards of care
  • Ensuring compliance with patient consent, infection prevention, medication safety, and life-support protocols
  • Supervising and coordinating anesthesia care delivery for assigned patients
  • Participating in quality improvement and performance initiatives
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and reporting requirements
  • Monitoring, inspecting, and ensuring readiness of anesthesia equipment
  • Collaborating with surgeons, intensivists, CRNAs, nursing, and multidisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

Required

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
  • Eligible for Louisiana medical licensure
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification

Preferred

  • Additional Critical Care/ICU training or experience
  • Expertise in advanced cardiothoracic anesthesia procedures and perioperative echocardiography
