As a Senior Clinical Data Manager in solid cancers, your job is to translate solid cancer evidence-based research into practical abstraction guidelines, data validation rules, and internal wiki resources. The Senior Clinical Data Manager focuses on tactical execution, direct abstractor supervision, operational workflow bottlenecks, and solid oncology subtype curation integrity while also balancing building processes, guidelines, and workflows to support that work.
The Senior Manager will be responsible for clearly articulating solid cancer project updates to key stakeholders and liaising with subject matter experts. You will work on complex operational issues, devising solutions to systemic bottlenecks in solid cancer workflows and establishing cross-disciplinary processes. This is an ideal position for someone with progressive clinical and abstraction experience in solid tumors who excels at tactical management and data curation in healthcare technology.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily clinical abstraction workflows to build high-quality clinical repositories for solid cancers
- Resolve escalated abstractor queries and edge cases, serving as the tactical solid cancer clinical resource for abstractor teams
- Leverage knowledge gained from pilot testing and abstraction queries to develop and maintain abstraction guidelines, data validation rules, and curation standards across multiple disease subtypes
- Utilize evidence-based research to underpin subtype development
- Analyze team operational bottlenecks, implement tactical process improvements, and maintain workstream output efficiency
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and establish rigorous audit frameworks across large teams
- Work with multiple data sources and formats to support report and insight generation
- Train and guide Data Abstractors to develop both clinical and abstraction expertise
- Uphold quality standards by coaching and counseling employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising abstractor performance
Qualifications/Skills:
- CTR, BSN or MSN, or deep clinical data experience (data managers, clinical monitors, CRAs) required
- 4+ years of progressive experience in a clinical or research setting with a dedicated focus on solid tumors/oncology subtypes as well as knowledge of medical and genomic terminology, medical abbreviations, and pharmacy terms
- Developed protocols, policies, reference manuals, workflows, or other procedural components in a clinical setting
- Demonstrated management experience leading abstractor or clinical data teams
- Strong leadership skills, ability, and willingness to work in an agile team environment
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, flexible environment with time constraints and obsessive attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets), analytics, and dashboards
