About The Role
The Retail Store Supervisor supports the Retail Store Manager by overseeing daily store operations, staff supervision, inventory controls, merchandising, customer service and compliance with company procedures. The Supervisor is responsible for consistent operational execution while actively supporting store sales targets, transaction growth and the customer experience. In the Store Manager’s absence, the Supervisor coordinates day-to-day store activities within delegated authority.
- Duties and Responsibilities
1.1 Store Operations and Compliance
· Supervise daily store opening and closing, security procedures, cash handling and reconciliation in accordance with approved SOPs.
· Maintain store cleanliness, presentation, safety, product storage and readiness for customers.
· Coordinate staff deployment, daily task assignments and operational handovers; escalate staffing or compliance issues to the Store Manager.
· Support store audits, track findings and implement corrective actions to maintain required standards.
1.2 Inventory Management and Control
· Coordinate stock receiving, verification, transfers, stock rotation and proper documentation of inventory movements.
· Support cycle counts and physical inventory exercises; investigate and report discrepancies with supporting documentation.
· Review monthly and quarterly inventory variance reports with the Store Manager and relevant inventory teams, and follow through on corrective actions.
· Monitor near-dated, damaged and slow-moving products and escalate replenishment or depletion requirements.
1.3 Merchandising and Promotions
· Ensure approved shelf pricing, promotional signage, product displays and merchandising standards are implemented accurately.
· Execute approved in-store promotions and activations, including product readiness and communication to frontline staff.
· Identify and report gaps in product presentation, stock availability and promotional execution.
1.4 Sales and Customer Experience
· Support achievement of the store’s monthly revenue target and year-on-year sales transaction growth.
· Coach frontline employees on customer engagement, product knowledge, upselling and cross-selling.
· Resolve routine customer concerns promptly and escalate complex issues to the Store Manager.
· Ensure timely, accurate processing of in-store and applicable online or pickup orders.
1.5 People Supervision and Reporting
· Supervise attendance, punctuality, productivity, service delivery and adherence to staff policies.
· Conduct daily team briefings and reinforce sales priorities, promotions, customer service and operational procedures.
· Provide coaching and document performance concerns for review by the Store Manager.
· Maintain accurate operational records and provide timely updates on incidents, variances, corrective actions and store performance.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Experience supervising frontline retail teams and maintaining customer service standards.
· Knowledge of inventory handling, cash controls, stock rotation and retail store procedures.
· Ability to interpret basic sales, audit and inventory variance reports.
· Strong communication, coaching, problem-solving and organizational skills.
· Working proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant POS/inventory systems.
- Education and Experience
- At least an Associate Degree in Business or related discipline, a Bachelor's degree is an asset
- At least four (4) years related experience, preferably in Retail or a Hospitality related area.
