Tech Lead (Node.js)
corestar · Limassol, Cyprus
About The Role
⭐️ CoreStar is a dynamic technology company supporting partners in heavy-load industries with high-performance solutions. Our expert teams bring a startup-driven mindset, focusing on innovation, collaboration, and efficiency in every project. At CoreStar, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your skills, tackle exciting challenges, and directly contribute to impactful products.
The Tech Lead owns technical direction and platform health across teams. People management and sprint delivery remain with Team Leads / Engineering Managers; product priorities remain with Product
Project overview:
We build a high-load in-house platform for third-party integrations, real-time data processing, and reporting. Coding agents are part of everyday engineering, and we’re building an internal AI product on top of company knowledge.
📌 Key Responsibilities:
- Own platform architecture across services, data flows, and integrations, balancing reliability, performance, security, and ease of change.
- Set performance and capacity targets. Validate critical designs through prototypes, benchmarks, and load testing.
- Establish engineering standards, testing practices, and review criteria. Review major technical decisions and build teams’ ability to apply these standards independently.
- Improve observability and incident diagnosis so engineers can investigate production issues beyond the services they authored.
- Lead adoption of coding agents across teams: define delegation and verification practices, coach engineers, and measure improvements in delivery speed and quality.
- Build and maintain shared agent instructions, skills, workflows, and MCP integrations, with clear ownership and maintenance standards.
- Prioritize technical debt, reliability, and performance work, making the business impact explicit and aligning execution with Team Leads.
- Stay hands-on through production code, proofs of concept, pairing, and technical reviews. Develop engineers and strengthen review practices across teams.
📌 Requirements:
- Experience owning technical direction across multiple teams, with architectural decisions taken to production and clear reasoning about their trade-offs.
- Deep production experience with Node.js and TypeScript, including runtime behavior, concurrency, profiling, and performance optimization.
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems under load, including service boundaries, consistency, failure handling, and third-party integrations.
- Experience with MySQL, MongoDB, Redis / Valkey, and message brokers such as NATS or Kafka, including data modeling, query optimization, migrations, and delivery guarantees.
- Practical experience with automated testing, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, observability, and incident response.
- Hands-on experience shipping with coding agents and building reusable agent tooling adopted by other engineers.
- Sound judgment about agent limitations, verification, cost, and access to company data.
- Ability to influence without reporting authority, mentor engineers, and explain technical trade-offs to engineering and business stakeholders in English.
