About the Role
The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for the administration of Ocean Casino Resort’s discipline policies and procedures.
Position Responsibilities
- Develops and administers progressive discipline policy and procedures.
- Reviews disciplinary actions.
- Advises and counsels managers and supervisors regarding job performance and behavioral issues concerning their team members. Recommends appropriate courses of action.
- Works with managers and supervisors assisting in documenting performance and/or disciplinary issues.
- Conducts investigations regarding complaints and concerns brought forth by team members or management.
- Demonstrates ability to formulate recommendations for corrective action based on investigation findings & internal policies and procedures as well as applicable federal, state and/or local employment laws.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Federal, State and local employment laws.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements. .
- Reviews involuntary terminations consistent with policies and procedures.
- Develops and maintains a tracking system for all employee investigations and grievances.
- Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Schedules, prepares and facilitates grievances.
- Maintains detailed notes and files for all investigations and grievances.
- Other duties as assigned by manager or director.
Essential Functions
- Exposure to casino related environmental factors including but not limited to secondhand smoke, excessive noise and hectic environments.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Must be able to work holidays and weekends as well as flexible shifts and/or unusual hours, as needed.
- Travel to/from work and on-site attendance to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Must be able to lift/pull up to 10 pounds.
Requirements
- Ability to effectively communicate in English (Read, Write, Speak & Understand)
- A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Counseling, or equivalent applicable experience preferred.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in Human Resources or operations supervision, preferably with experience in employee relations or dispute resolution.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience, tact, and respect.
- Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity and awareness on behalf of a diverse workforce.
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure

*Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $53,500-69,600 annually. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including experience and expertise and may vary from the amount listed above.
