Our Groomers are responsible for turning lumps and bumps into turn-tastic corduroy, moving and farming snow, building, maintaining and reshaping terrain parks and pipes, and constructing competition standard moguls and downhill race courses. Come see what Snowshoe mountain resort has to offer!
Job Responsibilities:
- Operating grooming machines and attachments to provide a quality snow surface
- Keeping all required log sheets and records current and accurate
- Operating various types of equipment to assist with summer trail maintenance
- Assisting with summer maintenance on grooming equipment
- Providing labor support when needed (snowmaking, lifts, snow removal, etc.)
- Supporting Inter-Company requests for events and summer operations
- Providing support for capital projects
- Keeping work environment clean and organized
- Monitoring temperatures and forecasts
- Completing tasks as outlined by Operations Supervisors and Managers
- Communicating changes on the hill to the compressor house operators
- Complying with OSHA and company procedures, rules, and regulations
- Attending regular safety training
- Informing Ski Patrol and other departments of unsafe ski conditions
- Using proper PPE
- Reporting unsafe practices or conditions to Operations Supervisors or Manager
- Providing contractors with labor, materials, and other assistance
- Cutting new trails, roads and building sites and maintaining existing infrastructure
- Assisting with snowmaking system repairs
- Mowing, weed eating, clearing brush
- Providing irrigation and erosion control
Driving:
- Have a valid Driver’s license and ability to pass the Snowshoe Driving Program
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Experience:
To qualify for the Groomer III position, candidate must meet at least 14 of the below criteria.
- 3 yrs. Experience as a Slope Maintenance Tech 2 or equivalent
- Proficient in the operation of various type of equipment and attachments used for maintaining slopes during both winter and summer operations including the Winch cat
- Proficient in the building and maintenance of Terrain Parks, TBL, Lift load / unload areas, Racecourses, Special Event features, etc.
- Proficient in the operation of chain saws, weed eaters, pruning saws, torches, grinders, mulcher, chop saws, hand tools, etc.
- Possess the knowledge and ability to plan and precede with slope maintenance operations in the absence of supervision
- Advance knowledge of Terrain Park design
- Basic Troubleshooting and Preventive Maintenance knowledge for slope maintenance equipment
- Basic knowledge of surveying and mapping
- Basic knowledge of management procedures (hiring, scheduling, procurement, accident reporting, budgets, payroll, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of snowmaking operations and infrastructure
- Welding / fabricating skills
- Basic mechanical skills
- Knowledge of basic construction principals
- Winch cat operator **
- Halfpipe cutter operator**
- Crane operator / Riggers certification**
- Grader operator
- Class B CDL
- First Aid / CPR certification**
- Basic computer skills
- Cutters Camp attendee
- Must be Able to document experience/certifications
