The Assistant Housekeeping Lead will support the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department across guest cabins, lodge areas, and public spaces. This role works closely with the Housekeeping Lead and team members to coordinate daily activities, maintain quality standards, support training, and provide hands-on assistance as needed. The ideal candidate is organized, service-oriented, and comfortable leading by example in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Role and Responsibilities

  • Team Support & Leadership: Support the Housekeeping Lead with day-to-day direction and coordination of housekeeping staff, helping foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented environment.
  • Daily Operations: Assist with coordinating daily housekeeping activities and ensuring guest rooms, cabins, lodge areas, and public spaces are cleaned and maintained to established standards.
  • Quality Control: Conduct routine room and area inspections, identify areas needing attention, and provide follow-up and support to ensure cleanliness and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Assist with daily staffing and coverage needs, including weekends, holidays, and periods of varying occupancy.
  • Training & Support: Assist with training new housekeeping team members on cleaning procedures, property standards, safety practices, and the proper use of supplies and equipment.
  • Inventory Support: Help monitor housekeeping supplies, linens, and equipment and communicate inventory needs to the Housekeeping Lead.
  • Guest Service: Respond to housekeeping-related guest requests and concerns promptly and professionally, escalating issues to the Housekeeping Lead or appropriate department when needed.
  • Safety & Sanitation: Help ensure housekeeping team members follow established health, safety, sanitation, and chemical-handling procedures.
  • Equipment & Maintenance: Report housekeeping equipment or facility issues and communicate maintenance needs to the appropriate department.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with Front Desk, Maintenance, and Restaurant teams to communicate housekeeping needs and support a seamless guest experience.
  • Hands-On Support: Perform housekeeping duties as needed, particularly during busy periods or when additional coverage is required.
  • Leadership Support: Serve as a point of contact for the housekeeping team when the Housekeeping Lead is unavailable and help provide direction and support as needed.

Qualifications

  • Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience required; prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and help coordinate daily housekeeping operations effectively.
  • Professional and service-oriented approach to guest interactions.
  • Familiarity with housekeeping supplies, equipment, and inventory practices.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, sanitation practices, and workplace safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently while also supporting and motivating a team.
  • Comfortable providing direction and leading by example.
  • Physical ability to perform housekeeping duties and assist with cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as business needs require.
