<p><strong>Position Summary:</strong></p>
<p>The Associate Scientist participates in cellular assay development, validation, and execution including sample analysis in a timely manner.  This position requires a <strong>Tuesday through Saturday</strong> work schedule to support cellular activities and maintain operational continuity. Performs assays according to SOPs and supports development of new procedures and improvement of existing SOPs. May serve as a Clinical Laboratory General Supervisor, when qualified and designated, providing day-to-day oversight of testing activities in accordance with CLIA/CAP, ISO and NY laboratory policies.</p>
<p><strong>Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to: </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Perform Neutralizing Antibody Assay primarily, as well as other immunocellular assays</li>
<li>Design and perform experiments, independently and accurately analyze and present data</li>
<li>High quality output is essential with the ability to build efficiency into improving productivity metrics</li>
<li>Assist in establishing and improving all procedures and required SOP documentation</li>
<li>Responsible for trouble shooting and correcting routine scientific issues/problems</li>
<li>Identify, update and implement emerging laboratory techniques</li>
<li>Maintain and support safe lab practices and environment</li>
<li>Work collaboratively with other technical teams in resource sharing and providing technical expertise</li>
<li>Support new equipment operational qualifications and performance checks</li>
<li>Monitor Product and Service/R&D related project expenses</li>
<li>Act as a scientific technology platform lead externally to clients and internally</li>
<li>Assists with writing, reviewing and editing contract and grant applications/proposals as appropriate.</li>
<li>Write and prepare abstracts, techniques/or draft scientific papers to maintain the scientific standard and image of the company</li>
<li>May present completed work at appropriate scientific meetings and in publications</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>
<p>Minimum Required:</p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of relevant lab experience in an acceptable laboratory; or</li>
</ul>
<p>Master’s Degree with at least 2 years of relevant lab experience in an acceptable laboratory.</p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution with a major in one of chemical, biological, clinical or medical sciences, or medical technology</li>
</ul>
<p>Other Required:</p>
<ul>
<li>Expert level mammalian cell culture and plate-based cellular assay experience</li>
<li>Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required</li>
<li>Must have the ability to organize and analyze data, as well as, prepare reports</li>
<li>Must possess strong computational skills, preferably experienced with Word, Excel, Power Point, and GraphPad Prism</li>
<li>Excellent use of judgment and discretion required</li>
<li>Extended work hours may be occasionally necessary in order to meet business demands</li>
<li>Ability to lift and carry between 1-15 lbs.; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance; frequently required to sit, grasp, and use right/left finger dexterity; May be exposed to a cold freezer environment (Freezer temperatures range between -20ºC -196ºC)</li>
<li>Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English language</li>
</ul>
<p>Preferred:</p>
<ul>
<li>A solid understanding of current GxP and CAP/CLIA/ISO/NY clinical laboratory standards</li>
<li>Demonstrated skills with assays used for immune monitoring such as Total Antibody Detection, Cell-based Neutralizing Antibody and functional cytokine production assay.</li>
</ul>
