<h2><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Our Internships</strong></span></h2>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">We are looking for passionate and motivated students who are interested in pursuing a career in media to join our team! We expect our interns to be in the office a minimum of three days a week. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">This program is a paid, ten week summer internship and offers the opportunity to connect and collaborate across the FT — in the US and globally. You’ll develop ideas that help drive our growth, present your work to US leadership, and gain valuable insights from across the business. Plus, you’ll be paired with a dedicated Buddy to provide mentorship and support throughout your experience.</span></p>

<h2><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Role Overview</strong></span></h2>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">The US reach and subscriber engagement team helps FT journalism reach a broader audience by producing original content for social media, directly engaging with our readers, managing engagement projects, monitoring analytics, and advising editors and reporters on best guidelines. <br><br>We are looking for candidates with a proven interest in social media, multimedia production, community engagement or digital journalism in general. Knowledge of business and economics is helpful, but not vital. You’ll have the opportunity to help conceive, shape and implement engagement strategies and experiments as well as take part in our daily audience engagement activities. This is a position within the newsroom. Candidates will be selected based on their interest in working in journalism and audience engagement.</span></p>

<h2><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Key responsibilities</strong></span></h2>
<ul>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Helping develop original ideas, experiments and engagement/social media strategies around planned news events, breaking news and special projects</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Assisting the social media team in producing posts and keeping our channels up to date and on the news agenda</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Producing original content specifically for social media to help promote FT journalism (this could include charts, social cards, videos, etc.)</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Assisting with direct reader engagement through reader participation/community projects </span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Using data and insights to analyse audience behaviour and help inform our journalism</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Providing SEO and social trends guidance from social and web listening tools</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Producing panels to promote our stories on Google Showcase</span></li>
</ul>
<h2><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Required skills/experience</strong></span></h2>
<ul>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Experience in journalism (a student publication counts), and good news judgement</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Experience with design (Adobe Suite or similar) and video editing a plus</span></li>
</ul>

<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Good writing and editing skills</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Good communication skills, organised, curious, and able to balance multiple projects at once</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">You are interested in making FT journalism accessible to a broader audience across various platforms</span></li>

<p><span style="color: #000000;">Original reporting, great writing and intelligent commentary lie at the heart of FT journalism. Our readers trust us to produce quality journalism that is accurate, fair and insightful. For this reason, FT editorial staff do not use AI tools to write articles or create reader-facing content.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">AI may be used in specific, pre-approved cases to assist with research, such as in data investigations. We expect internship applicants to refrain from using AI in writing tests or written materials submitted during the application process. All submissions must reflect your own knowledge, skills, and experiences.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Candidates may use AI to assist with research and interview preparation. However, the use of AI throughout the application process is monitored to ensure fairness and transparency for all applicants.</span></p>
