<p><span style="color: #212529;"><strong>Our Internships</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">We are looking for passionate and motivated students who are interested in pursuing a career in audio journalism and production to join our team! We expect our interns to be in the office a minimum of three days a week. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">This program is a paid, ten week summer internship and offers the opportunity to connect and collaborate across the FT — in the US and globally. You’ll develop ideas that help drive our growth, present your work to US leadership, and gain valuable insights from across the business. Plus, you’ll be paired with a dedicated Buddy to provide mentorship and support throughout your experience.</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #222222;">This internship pays $22 per hour for 40 hours per week and runs from</span><span style="color: #000000;"> June 7, 2027 - Aug 13, 2027. Before applying, please ensure you will be available on these dates.</span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #000000;">Applicants must be authorized to work in the US.</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Role overview</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">The internship will offer hands-on experience pitching, reporting and producing audio stories for the FT’s flagship daily podcast, the FT News Briefing.</span><span style="color: #000000;">We are looking for candidates with a proven interest in multimedia journalism and some experience in podcast production. Knowledge of business, economics and financial markets is an advantage, and having the ideas and initiative to propose stories and execute them is a must. </span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Key responsibilities</strong></span></p>
<ul>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Researching and pitching audio story ideas which draw from the full range of FT coverage: business, finance and culture</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Gathering tape and archive audio to bring stories to life </span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Coordinating and recording interview with FT journalists and other guests</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Producing and editing elements of the FT News Briefing, with guidance from its team leader</span></li>

<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Required skills/experience</strong></span></p>
<ul>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Journalism degree preferred</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Audio or podcast experience preferred (Internship or other courses)</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Good writing and editing skills</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Strong communication and organisational skills</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Interest in finance and business news</span></li>
<li style="color: #000000 !important;"><span style="color: #000000;">Must have experience working with Descript or similar editing software</span></li>

<p><span style="color: #000000;">Original reporting, great writing and intelligent commentary lie at the heart of FT journalism. Our readers trust us to produce quality journalism that is accurate, fair and insightful. For this reason, FT editorial staff do not use AI tools to write articles or create reader-facing content.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">AI may be used in specific, pre-approved cases to assist with research, such as in data investigations. We expect internship applicants to refrain from using AI in writing tests or written materials submitted during the application process. All submissions must reflect your own knowledge, skills, and experiences.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Candidates may use AI to assist with research and interview preparation. However, the use of AI throughout the application process is monitored to ensure fairness and transparency for all applicants.</span></p>
