Job Title: Clinical Training Instructor (Two Needed)
College: College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences – (Nursing)
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
The Clinical Training Instructor provides essential supervision and educational support to nursing students in a hospital, health clinics and community health environment, ensuring that students gain hands-on experience in those various clinical settings. This role bridges theoretical knowledge with practical application through structured training in various clinical settings. The instructor supports students' clinical skills development and ensures alignment with hospital/health clinics protocols and patient safety standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises nursing students during clinical rotations in hospital and community health settings.

Ensures adherence to hospital policies, infection control measures, and patient safety standards while guiding students in clinical skills and patient assessment.

Assists students in understanding and applying healthcare procedures in real time, with a focus on improving patient care under supervision.

Collaborates with hospital and community health staff to facilitate student learning experiences and maintain high standards of care.

Prepares equipment and ensures all supplies and documentation are in order for each clinical session.

Assists in organizing and participating in OSCEs and clinical assessments.

Assess and evaluate students' clinical performance by completing clinical assessment tools, grading assignments, and maintaining accurate evaluation records in accordance with course requirements.

Provide constructive feedback and guidance to support students' clinical competence, professional development, and skill remediation when needed.

Ensures all activities comply with hospital and university guidelines, supporting both learning objectives and patient safety.

Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (a Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred).

A minimum of 3–5 years of clinical experience is required in one of the following specialties:

  • Clinical Training Instructor – Advanced Adult Health Nursing: Clinical experience in Critical Care Nursing is required.
  • Clinical Training Instructor – Maternity and Newborn Health Nursing: Clinical experience in Maternity and Newborn Health Nursing is required.

Experience in nursing education and clinical instruction, with a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment for students.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Effective teaching and mentoring abilities

Good communication and interpersonal skills

In-depth knowledge of clinical nursing practices across multiple specialized settings, with strong patient care competence.

Strong understanding of hospital protocols, patient safety measures, and adult learning principles.

Ability to provide effective clinical supervision and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to manage student schedules and collaborate effectively with healthcare staff.

Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel) for managing schedules and data.

Ability to use audio-visual equipment, with proficiency in learning management systems and familiarity with student database systems.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is primarily conducted in hospital and community health settings, involving close interaction with patients and healthcare staff.

Requires physical mobility to move between hospital departments.

Involves regular exposure to hospital and community healthcare environments, with strict adherence to safety protocols.

May require flexible working hours based on clinical schedules.
