The Opportunity
The Vice President, Information Technology (IT) is the senior technology leader for REGENXBIO, responsible for setting and executing an enterprise IT strategy that enables corporate priorities and prepares the organization for continued growth and commercialization. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this strategic and hands-on leader serves as a trusted advisor to executive and functional leaders and oversees the full IT portfolio, including enterprise applications, infrastructure and cloud services, cybersecurity, data and analytics, digital enablement, end-user services, and technology vendor partnerships. The VP, IT will also guide the responsible adoption of automation, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies to simplify work, strengthen decision-making, and create measurable business value.
How You’ll Contribute
- Technology Strategy & Commercialization Readiness
- Develop and execute a multi-year enterprise IT strategy and roadmap aligned with REGENXBIO's clinical development priorities, commercialization plans, operating model, and growth.
- Advise executive and functional leaders on technology investments, risks, tradeoffs, and sequencing required to move from a clinical-stage company to a commercial organization.
- Translate commercialization milestones into a sequenced technology, data, and process roadmap with clear dependencies, owners, and readiness criteria.
- Lead enterprise technology readiness for commercialization, including scalable capabilities for manufacturing and supply chain, Quality, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, commercial operations, patient services, Finance, and Human Resources as business needs evolve.
- Establish technology governance, decision rights, architecture standards, portfolio priorities, and performance measures that support launch milestones, accountability, and execution.
- Enterprise Technology & Service Delivery
- Lead the enterprise technology portfolio, including cloud and infrastructure, networks, identity and access, enterprise and scientific applications, collaboration tools, end-user computing, and IT service delivery.
- Establish and lead enterprise IT portfolio and project management governance, including investment prioritization, resource planning, delivery methodologies, project controls, risk and dependency management, executive reporting, and benefits realization.
- Ensure technology services are reliable, resilient, scalable, well documented, and designed around a strong employee and customer experience.
- Select, implement, integrate, and optimize fit-for-purpose solutions; simplify the application portfolio and design integrations and data flows that can scale for commercial operations.
- Lead the Business Analysis capability, establishing standards and practices for business process analysis, requirements management, solution evaluation, process design, and translation of business needs into scalable technology solutions.
- Establish service levels, operational metrics, and continuous improvement practices that strengthen system performance, responsiveness, and user experience.
- Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance
- Set and maintain the enterprise cybersecurity strategy and information security management approach, including policies, controls, monitoring, awareness, and risk management.
- Establish and direct the IT strategy and governance framework including GxP-regulated systems, ensuring technology capabilities, processes, and controls meet applicable regulatory, quality, data integrity, privacy, public company, and information security requirements throughout the system lifecycle.
- Ensure effective lifecycle governance for regulated systems, including risk assessment, validation planning and execution, change control, periodic review, data integrity, supplier oversight, and system retirement.
- Lead and maintain REGENXBIO’s information security management system and ISO 27001 responsibilities.
- Lead technology business continuity, disaster recovery, incident preparedness, and technology risk management.
- Partner with Legal, Quality, Compliance, Finance, and business leaders to maintain appropriate governance for data, systems, access, and technology-enabled processes.
- Data, Digital Enablement & Innovation
- Build governed data, integration, analytics, and reporting capabilities that provide trusted information for clinical, operational, and commercial decisions.
- Identify and implement practical uses of automation, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies that improve productivity and business outcomes.
- Establish responsible governance for AI-enabled solutions and lead adoption so new tools and processes deliver sustained value.
- Vendor, Financial & Portfolio Management
- Own IT budgeting, forecasting, investment planning, and resource allocation, with a focus on business value, scalability, risk, and cost effectiveness.
- Lead vendor selection, contracting support, performance management, and strategic relationships with technology providers, consultants, and managed service partners.
- Maintain internal ownership of technology architecture, standards, security, data, and outcomes while using external partners where they provide the greatest value.
- Leadership & Organization
- Build, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing IT organization with clear accountabilities, strong technical and business capabilities, and a customer-focused service mindset.
- Set clear priorities and outcomes, assign ownership, and hold the team and partners accountable for delivery.
- Foster a collaborative culture that supports innovation, learning, direct communication, and continuous improvement while balancing speed, quality, risk, and compliance.
- Communicate complex technology topics in clear business terms and build strong partnerships across functions and levels.

What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field required; advanced technical degree or MBA preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including enterprise-wide accountability in a high-growth or highly regulated organization.
- Experience leading IT in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or healthcare; experience preparing a clinical-stage company for commercialization or scaling a commercial biotechnology organization strongly preferred.
- Broad technology leadership experience spanning enterprise applications, cloud and infrastructure, cybersecurity, data and analytics, integration, end-user services, and IT operations.
- Demonstrated success building and executing technology roadmaps, modernizing systems and processes, and scaling IT capabilities through significant growth and change.
- Strong understanding of regulated technology environments, including FDA regulated environments, system validation, data integrity, cybersecurity, privacy, business continuity, and disaster recovery. Experience with ISO 27001 and public-company or Sarbanes-Oxley requirements is required.
- Experience establishing commercialization-ready technology and data capabilities across functions such as Manufacturing and Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations, Patient Services, and Finance.
- Demonstrated ability to implement data, analytics, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities responsibly, including master data management and business intelligence.
- Experience managing technology budgets, complex vendor relationships, managed service providers, and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Proven people leader with experience building high-performing teams, developing talent, creating accountability, and leading through organizational change.
- Strong business acumen and executive presence, with the ability to build relationships, translate complex technical topics into clear recommendations, and influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The estimated compensation range for this role is $285,000-$406,000 annually. The actual salary offered to the final candidate depends on factors such as relevant work experience, skills, education, and years of experience.
