About The Team
Our Sustainability team is passionate, collaborative and dedicated to driving sustainability initiatives across Murdoch University's campuses and farms. Working across Sustainability Ethos, Climate Action and Nature Positive priorities, the team delivers projects that create meaningful environmental outcomes.
In this role, you'll contribute to Murdoch University's Nature Positive aspirations by supporting biodiversity, habitat restoration and sustainable land management initiatives across the University's unique farm and conservation landscapes.
Your New Role!
As the Sustainable Farm Project Officer, you will play a key role in delivering innovative farm regeneration and environmental restoration projects across Murdoch University's South Street campus. Working as part of the Office of the PVC Sustainability, you will help enhance biodiversity, expand wildlife corridors, restore wetlands and native habitats and support nature positive outcomes across the University's farms and surrounding conservation areas.
In this newly created role, you'll work closely with sustainability specialists, farm teams, researchers and academic staff to implement on-ground projects, coordinate contractors, monitor project outcomes, and contribute to major sustainability initiatives supported by significant external funding. Your work will directly support Murdoch University's environmental goals and long-term sustainability strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver sustainable farming, environmental restoration, and biodiversity projects in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate contractors and service providers undertaking restoration works, including weed management, fencing, revegetation, and site maintenance.
  • Support habitat restoration across farms, wetlands, woodlands, and conservation areas.
  • Monitor project outcomes, maintain project records, and assist with reporting against project objectives, budgets, and timelines.
  • Source and apply best-practice advice on ecological restoration, weed management, and native vegetation establishment.

This Fixed Term (2 Years) | Part time (15 hours per week) attracts a starting salary of $93k (pro rata) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions. The position is also eligible for salary step progression within the classification level in accordance with Murdoch University's Enterprise Agreement.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Sustainable Agriculture, Soil Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Experience delivering environmental restoration projects, particularly in sensitive ecological environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing environmental management contractors and services.
  • Knowledge of environmental weed control and ecological restoration practices.
  • A current Class C Driver’s Licence.
