About The Role
We are seeking a commercially minded and strategically capable Health, Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner to help shape and lead systemic HSW improvement across Bapcor’s complex, multi-site operations.
Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, you will operate as a trusted adviser and change partner to senior business and operational leaders. You will influence strategy and business planning are aligned to HSW outcomes.
This is not a traditional compliance or site-support role. Success will require the ability to challenge constructively, identify systemic issues, develop practical management-system solutions and lead change through influence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the HSW strategy and change approach for significant business, operational and organisational initiatives.
- Provide expert advice and coaching on HSW legislation, operational risk, safe work practices and effective control management.
- Coach leaders to strengthen safety capability and ownership, embedding accountability for managing risks within their operations.
- Analyse HSW performance and data to identify emerging risks, repeat events and actionable insights that inform business priorities.
- Develop clear, practical and legally defensible HSW policies, standards, procedures and operational guidance.
- Translate complex legislation, risk information and technical requirements into practical business solutions.
- Provide leadership and technical expertise on serious incidents and complex investigations, including regulator engagement where required.
- Partner across People & Culture and the business on wellbeing, psychosocial risk, early intervention and sustainable return-to-work outcomes.
You are an experienced HSW professional who can move confidently between strategic conversations with senior leaders and practical engagement within frontline operational environments.
You combine strong technical safety expertise with a commercial and pragmatic approach, understanding that effective safety partnering requires influencing decisions, building leadership capability and developing practical solutions that work within complex operations.
You will bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of Australian WHS/OHS legislation and practical risk management.
- Demonstrated experience leading strategic or enterprise-wide change within a complex organisation.
- Experience leading or supporting serious and complex incident investigations.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capability, with the ability to diagnose underlying systemic issues.
- Ability to translate data, assurance findings and operational information into clear insights, priorities and recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, challenge constructively and navigate resistance or competing business priorities.
- Advanced written communication skills, including experience preparing executive reports and developing policies, standards, procedures and practical guidance.
- Proven ability to take complex initiatives from concept and design through to implementation, adoption and evaluation.
Highly Regarded
- Experience within automotive, retail, distribution, warehousing, logistics or another multi-site operational environment.
- Experience supporting organisational or operational change.
- Exposure to psychosocial risk, wellbeing and early intervention initiatives.
- Experience engaging with regulators, employee representatives and other external stakeholders.
