Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Marketing in the Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University invites applications for a part-time term faculty position to teach MKT 5700X: Go-to-Market & Business Development, and potentially other marketing or business courses. This position will be filled at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice, and be for the Spring 2027 semester only.
The primary responsibility is to teach MKT 5700: Go-to-Market & Business Development, an applied course focused on how organizations identify market opportunities, develop go-to-market strategies, acquire customers, build business relationships, and create pathways for growth. Depending on departmental and college needs, the successful candidate may also be asked to teach other marketing or business courses consistent with the candidate’s expertise and qualifications.
The successful candidate should be able to teach contemporary approaches to go-to-market strategy and business development, including topics such as market opportunity assessment, value propositions, market entry, customer acquisition, partnerships, and growth strategy. Relevant professional experience and the ability to bring current industry practices, and examples into the classroom are highly desirable. The successful candidate should be able to deliver course materials through online formats.
The position will start in the Spring 2027 semester.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, Management, Entrepreneurship, Strategy, or a related field
- Must meet the college’s faculty qualification standards for AACSB Accreditation
- Five years of professional experience in business development, strategy, sales, marketing, or a related area
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional experience in business development, customer acquisition, sales, commercialization, market entry, channel development, partnerships, or growth strategy
- Experience working across marketing, strategy, or other functions to bring products or services to market
- Experience using contemporary technologies, data, and AI-assisted tools to support market analysis, business development, or go-to-market decision-making
- Experience training, mentoring, supervising, presenting to clients or executives, leading workshops, or otherwise helping others develop business and commercial skills
- Ability to teach additional marketing or business courses based on departmental and college needs
