About The Role

TheSecurities Valuation Office(SVO)of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) hasan exciting opportunity for aCredit Analyst II.Thisteam memberwill havewell-developed, credit and analyticalexpertisein the field of assignmentandpreformcredit analysis inassignedarea.Functionsof this roleincluderatingand analyzing a high-volume portfolio of debt securities for inclusion in the NAIC Securities database.They will actively contribute to various SVO initiatives and projects on a regular basis. Thisteam memberworks independently and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, andmaintaincollegial relations with his peers, and other internal and external customers.
This is a full-time hybrid position, in a positive and flexible environment. Residency within 100 miles of theNew York, NYoffice isrequired.
Responsibilities Include

Performscredit analysis of assigned sectors of corporate orstructuredsecuritiesin a wide variety of industries toestablishappropriaterating.This requires reasoned based judgment based upon a thorough analysis of security structure & legalagreements, financial statements and credit viability of issuer, appropriate peers, corporate or structured securities, analytical methodologies, industry data for comparative purposes economic trendsionthe industry and country of issuer, as well as relevant third party support, collateral or lease agreements.

Preparesappropriateand efficiently written credit reports and make concise verbal presentations to thecreditcommittee. Credit reports such asan InitialFiling or Annual Updatereports, documenting the ratingsrationale, must adhere to the internal analysis standards. Respond to appeals, both verbal and written. Achievesproductivity and timeliness requirements.

Completesreview of theRegulatory Treatment Analysis Servicerequests (RTAS) for credits inassignedportfolio. Preparesan appropriate writtenreport for a review by acreditcommittee documenting the ratingsrationale.

Identifiesandparticipatesin internal and external professional development opportunities to broaden the analytical skill set. Developsastrongworking knowledge of the Purposes and Procedures Manual of theInvestment Analysis Office and the Accounting Practices & Procedures Manual of the NAIC.

Producesresearch covering important industry trends/issues inassignedportfolio that may be important to regulators. Respond to informational requests from a variety of sources, such as regulators, insurers,Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organizations (NRSROs), investment bankers,etc.

Maintain excellent interpersonal skillsin order todisseminateinformation and viewpoints to a variety of customers, including regulators.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Required
Master's degree (M.A.), M.B.A. in Finance or equivalent and/or CFA. Related experienceof 5to 10 years with at least 5+ years of fundamental credit analysis, and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience
Experience performing credit analysis at a Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organization (NRSRO or “credit rating agency”).
Systems & Technology Requirements
Intermediate to advanced levelproficiencywith Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), Microsoft Windows,Bloombergand similar software. Advanced programming capabilities with these toolsisa plus.
Compensation
$128,237up to $195,000,commensuratewith education and experience.
