About The Role

As Chief Financial Officer of MET Spain, you will be a key member of the local leadership team and a trusted business partner to the CEO. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the financial strategy, governance framework, and operational excellence of a growing energy business while working closely with both local and international stakeholders across the MET Group.
Reporting directly to the CEO of MET Spain, the successful candidate will lead all finance-related activities, including financial planning and analysis, reporting, treasury and cash management, taxation, credit management, billing, and regulatory compliance. The role combines strategic leadership with a hands-on approach, offering significant exposure to the commercial dynamics of the Spanish energy market.

Key Responsibilities

The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for:

  • Leading and continuously improving the financial reporting and control framework of MET Spain, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and alignment with Group standards.
  • Driving the annual budgeting, forecasting, and business planning processes in close collaboration with the CEO and business stakeholders.
  • Managing treasury activities, cash flow planning, and banking relationships in coordination with the MET Group Treasury team.
  • Ensuring efficient cash management processes, including funding requirements, dividend distributions, and compliance with Spanish corporate and tax regulations.
  • Overseeing customer billing and invoicing activities, ensuring the accurate application of VAT, excise duties, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Leading the implementation and monitoring of credit management and KYC processes in line with Group policies and local regulations.
  • Coordinating the preparation of tax declarations, statutory accounts, and annual financial statements, while ensuring timely payment of all taxes, VAT, and excise duties.
  • Supporting commercial and operational teams in securing and managing the financial guarantees required to operate in the Spanish energy market.
  • Ensuring all company payments and financial transactions are executed in accordance with MET Group policies, internal controls, and Spanish legislation.
  • Identifying opportunities to digitalize, streamline, and enhance financial processes to support business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Acting as a strategic advisor to the CEO, providing financial insights that support sound business decisions and long-term value creation.

What We Are Looking For
Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior finance leadership role within the energy sector, ideally with direct exposure to energy retail or energy supply activities.
  • Previous experience in a Big Four audit or advisory environment would be considered an advantage.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • CPA, ACCA, CFA, MBA, or equivalent professional qualification is highly valued.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong track record in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury and liquidity management.
  • Sound knowledge of tax, VAT, excise duty, and regulatory requirements relevant to the Spanish market.
  • Experience in credit risk management and financial process digitalization.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial, and hands-on environment.
