About The Role
Amentum is seeking an experienced Business Development Director to lead business development activities within domestic and/or international government markets. This position is responsible for developing strategic customer relationships, identifying and advancing new business opportunities, and supporting strategies that strengthen the company’s position and competitiveness in the marketplace.
The Business Development Director will maintain a strong understanding of the government market, customer priorities, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities. This individual will work closely with internal stakeholders to help shape growth strategies, inform long-range business planning, and position the organization for future success.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key customers, government agencies, officials, and other stakeholders.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop new business opportunities that support organizational growth objectives.
- Monitor the government marketplace to understand customer priorities, industry trends, funding environments, and competitive activity.
- Develop and execute business development and marketing strategies designed to expand the company’s presence within targeted markets.
- Provide market intelligence and strategic insight to help assess the company's market position, competitive strengths, and potential areas for growth.
- Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to provide business development input into long-range strategic and business planning.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective opportunities and support the development of strategies to successfully pursue them.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and influencers to strengthen customer engagement and increase awareness of the company's capabilities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align customer needs and market opportunities with organizational capabilities and strategic priorities.
- Provide input and support to proposal and capture efforts, as appropriate, to help position the company for successful pursuits.
- Represent the organization professionally in meetings, industry events, customer engagements, and other business development activities.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Bachelor's degree in a related field; 15 years of progressive business development experience; and excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Position requires a thorough understanding of government contracting/customers and the proposal process. Must be articulate with executive presence, creative and forward-looking, a clear thinker and decision-maker, a change agent, and have a proven track record of continuous business development activities. Master's degree preferred. The position requires travel. The position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
