About The Role

Risk Management Analyst
Enterprise Data Risk Management (“EDRM”), within Global Risk & Compliance Organization, is the independent risk management function covering risk of financial loss, reputational damage, or regulatory or legal action resulting from inadequate data governance and/or data management practices adversely impacting the accuracy, timeliness, comprehensiveness, or usability of data within or throughout its lifecycle.
Enterprise Data Risk Management is hiring an Analyst who will support the execution of the enterprise data risk management program designed to safeguard our organization's data assets and promote compliance with applicable regulatory and policy requirements. The Analyst’s primary focus will be on supporting data risk reviews, ongoing monitoring activities, and assessment of data risk management practices across the enterprise data risk taxonomy.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the execution of Data Risk Management activities, aligning with the company's overall data risk management framework , including data usability ,data distribution and controls throughout the Data Lifecycle, for AXP data managed internally and/or at third parties
  • Support independent reviews and credible challenge of first-line data risk management practices, governance process, control environment, and adherence to policies/regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze the review results and monitoring outcomes to help identify potential controls gaps, recurring issues and emerging data risk themes, and support the documentation of observations and tracking of remediation activities.
  • Support ongoing monitoring and assessment of enterprise data risk themes, control effectiveness, and emerging risks to inform risk oversight activities and escalation processes.
  • Partner with teams across Global Risk and Compliance, Finance, the Enterprise Data Office and other business units to support effective data risk mitigation and governance practices.
  • Prepare reports and presentations, to support management reporting, oversight activities, and stakeholder discussions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related discipline is preferred. Master’s Degree in relevant field is required.
  • 0-2 years of experience in risk management or data risk within the financial services industry would be preferable
  • Experience in developing and delivering risk insights and communications to leadership, highlighting key risk indicators, control performance, and emerging risk themes.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, metadata, and data risk management practices is desirable
  • Proficient in using data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python), and knowledge of database systems, and familiarity with AI and Generative AI tools to support data analysis, research, risk monitoring, and productivity.
  • Ability to effectively leverage emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to analyze information, identify trends and risk themes, and support efficient risk management processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
