About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role of accountant will be integral in supporting the organization’s reporting and performance reporting obligations.
Specifically, this role will:
- Take ownership of assigned month end activities in line with reporting timelines to ensure strong financial governance is maintained.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, the Financial Accounting team and the Finance Business Partnering team to provide accounting support for SVHMs financial objectives, whilst ensuring strong financial governance.
- Comply with all accounting policies and procedures, with a focus on internal controls, daily efficiencies and continuous improvement.
Your Contribution
- Oversight and review of SVHM banking function
- Coordinate taxation and other statutory compliance activities, including FBT and GST, ensuring all regulatory obligations are met within required timeframes.
- Actively contribute to building efficiencies and streamlining processes across the Financial Accounting team responsibilities.
- Take ownership of assigned financial accounting month end tasks and ensure processing is accurate and finalised in a timely manner in line with day 3 close off.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand the operations of assigned portfolios and ensure month-end results make sense
- Ensure compliance with relevant taxation legislation e.g. FBT, GST and statutory reporting obligations
- Drive continuous improvement of organisational finance processes, procedures, systems and reporting, including but not limited to the bank reconciliation process.

About our Department
Primarily located at the Fitzroy campus, the finance department incorporates financial accounting and controller activities, finance business partners and analysts, revenue services, finance systems and accounts payable (via group shared services).
The SVHM finance team consists of approximately 35 staff members across financial accounting, accounts payable, debtors, revenue services and finance business partnering. The department consists of a friendly, driven, hardworking team where the opportunity exists to build relationships with key stakeholders across the hospital and within the finance team, whilst embracing the culture of continuous improvement, teamwork and collaboration.
The SVHM finance team have a hybrid working arrangement and staff are expected to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
