About The Role

The Associate Dean of Students for Student Accountability provides strategic leadership and oversight for the University’s student accountability and conduct processes. As a key member of the Dean of Students leadership team, the Associate Dean provides leadership and subject matter expertise on student conduct, behavioral intervention, and student accountability matters across the University. The position oversees the administration and resolution of student conduct cases, provides consultation on complex student concerns, supports the University’s Behavioral Intervention Team, and collaborates with faculty, staff, and campus partners to promote consistent and educational approaches to accountability. The Associate Dean supervises and develops professional staff, provides guidance on University policies and procedures, and leads training, outreach, assessment, and continuous improvement efforts that support student development, community wellbeing, and a fair and effective student accountability process.
Campus Leadership, Consultation, Education, and Behavioral Intervention

  • Provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Office of Student Accountability.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, develops, and evaluates professional, graduate, and student staff.
  • Establishes office priorities, workflows, service expectations, and operational goals.
  • Monitors caseloads, timelines, and staff assignments to ensure timely and effective case resolution.
  • Reviews work to promote accuracy, consistency, and compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Fosters an office culture centered on student learning, collaboration, professional development, and effective service.

Student Conduct Administration and Complex Case Management

  • Oversees the administration and adjudication of academic and nonacademic student misconduct matters.
  • Provides leadership and consultation on complex, high impact, sensitive, or precedent setting cases.
  • Determines appropriate resolution pathways in accordance with University policies and procedures.
  • Promotes consistent application of conduct procedures, sanctions, educational interventions, interim measures, and documentation standards.
  • Coordinates hearing panels and other formal resolution processes as appropriate.
  • Provides guidance and support to staff managing routine and complex student accountability matters

Policy, Compliance, and Process Improvement

  • Leads the review, interpretation, development, and implementation of the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities and related procedures.
  • Monitors relevant legal, regulatory, institutional, and professional developments related to student conduct and accountability.
  • Recommends updates to University policies, procedures, and practices based on emerging needs and best practices.
  • Evaluates conduct processes and implements improvements that strengthen fairness, consistency, efficiency, and the student experience.
  • Maintains appropriate standards for case documentation, records management, confidentiality, and procedural compliance.

Campus Leadership, Consultation, Education, and Behavioral Intervention

  • Provides leadership and subject matter expertise on student conduct, behavioral intervention, and student accountability matters across the University.
  • Serves as an active member of the Behavioral Intervention Team and collaborates with campus partners to coordinate responses to complex student concerns.
  • Advises and consults with faculty, staff, students, Legal Counsel, Police Services, Housing and Residence Life, academic units, and other campus partners regarding student behavior and appropriate response pathways.
  • Identifies emerging behavioral and conduct trends and works collaboratively to strengthen prevention, intervention, and education strategies.
  • Develops and supports training and educational resources related to student conduct processes, reporting expectations, community standards, and student rights and responsibilities.
  • Promotes educational, developmental, restorative, and alternative approaches to accountability where appropriate.
  • Represents the Office of Student Accountability on University committees, workgroups, and initiatives as assigned.

Assessment, Strategic Initiatives, and Student Governance

  • Uses student conduct data and assessment to identify trends, evaluate outcomes, monitor consistency, and inform prevention, education, staffing, and resource decisions.
  • Develops reports and recommendations related to case volume, types of misconduct, resolution timelines, sanctions, repeat behavior, and other indicators of office effectiveness.
  • Establishes goals and uses assessment findings to support continuous improvement of the student accountability function.
  • Serves as advisor to the Student Government Association Student Court, or an assigned designee, as applicable.
  • Provides guidance regarding assigned appeals and matters related to the Student Government Association constitution, bylaws, election code, and other student governance processes as appropriate.
  • Leads or contributes to special projects, strategic initiatives, and cross functional efforts within the Dean of Students Office and Division of Student Affairs.
  • Represents the Dean of Students Office as appropriate and performs other duties as assigned.

  • Participate in the Dean of Student's on Call Duty Schedule.

Master's degree and five years of appropriate experience, or a Juris Doctorate (JD) and three years of appropriate experience. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
