About The Role
The Office of Decision Support empowers university leadership through data-informed insights, strategic analysis, and performance reporting. Our work supports academic planning, institutional research, accreditation, and long-term strategy — helping USF make smarter, evidence-based decisions.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Student Assistant to join our Student Success Research & Analytics team. This role is ideal for a student with a strong interest in data analysis and data visualization. Working closely with ODS analysts and leadership, you will contribute to projects that directly support student success initiatives across USF. This is a hands-on opportunity to build real-world experience with tools like SQL, Power BI, Copilot, Excel, and SAS, while also learning the strategic and analytical frameworks that guide institutional decision-making.
- Collect, clean, and analyze data related to student success metrics
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Power BI, Excel, and other AI tools such as Copilot
- Support data documentation and reporting processes using tools such as Word, Jira, and Confluence
- Contribute to project organization and create and maintain documentation
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently an enrolled student at USF.
Must be enrolled half time for the semester appointed (6 credits for undergraduate students and 5 credits for graduate students).
Required Qualifications:
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, Power Query, data formatting)
- Experience with analytics tools and programming languages (e.g., SQL, SAS, R)
- Experience with data visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and analytical techniques
- Strong organizational skills
