About The Role
The Slaight Family Centre for youth in transition serves people who are at-risk for, or at early stages of severe mental illness. The main goal of the centre is to put more young people with psychosis on a path to recovery through the development of new treatments, enhanced early detection, and clinical research.
We are seeking a full-time, contract, (one (1) year) Research Analyst who supports clinical, preclinical, and patient-oriented research activities through data collection, participant engagement, laboratory procedures, analysis, documentation, and knowledge translation. Reporting to the Research Operations Manager and working within interdisciplinary research teams, the Research Analyst contributes to scheduling and conducting screening and study visits, including accompanying participants for laboratory tests, MRI, rTMS visits and so on. You will assist in centralized recruitment and facilitate recruitment for multiple studies, screening and schedule research participants. You will assist with administering and scoring clinical/functional scales and neuropsychological assessments. Other duties include preparing and maintaining records and databases (i.e., REDCap) and preparing data for presentations. You will prepare and maintain research documentation in accordance with regulatory guidelines, as well as supporting Research Ethics Board (REB) submissions and renewals. You will ensure compliance with ethical, legislative, and institutional research requirements. You will also oversee tracking and documentation of study costs, budgets, and progress reports. Other administrative duties are also required. Some evening shifts may be required.
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology, Pharmacology, Health Science, or a related field
- Minimum one (1) year of relevant research or clinical research experience (experience with individuals with severe mental illness or psychosis is preferred)
- Experience with research data collection and documentation; Previous experience in administration of neuropsychological assessments (e.g., MATRICS, RBANS, etc.), structured diagnostic interviewing (e.g., SCID) and clinical rating scales (e.g., SANS, BPRS, CIRSG) is preferred
- Demonstrated ability in the use of electronic data capture programs for participant research data collection (e.g., REDCap).
- Prior experience with multi-site clinical trials is an asset.
- Experience with neuroimaging (MRI) or rTMS
- Experience and comfort working with acute patient populations, such as patients on inpatient psychiatric units.
- Experience with statistical or qualitative analysis software (R/Python, SPSS, NVivo, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially with acute psychiatric patient populations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams
- Computer proficiency
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Bilingualism or proficiency in a second language is an asset
Salary Range: $27.95 – $37.28 per hour
