Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable Leadership:
- Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely supplier payments.
- Manage supplier relationships and resolve escalated payment-related disputes.
- Ensure compliance with delegated authority levels, procurement policies, and internal controls.
- Monitor payment cycles and optimize cash outflows while maintaining positive supplier relationships.
- Drive automation and process improvements within the payable function.
Accounts Receivable Leadership:
- Lead customer invoicing, collections, and receivables management activities.
- Establish and monitor credit control processes to reduce overdue debt and improve cash collections.
- Manage escalated customer account queries and payment disputes.
- Monitor ageing reports and implement strategies to minimize bad debt exposure.
- Drive improvements in collection effectiveness and customer payment performance.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management:
- Develop and monitor cash flow forecasts relating to payables and receivables.
- Identify working capital improvement opportunities.
- Partner with Treasury and Finance leadership to optimize liquidity management.
- Provide management with insights on receivable trends, payment patterns, and financial risks.
Financial Controls & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies, tax requirements, and audit standards.
- Maintain strong financial controls and governance frameworks.
- Lead internal and external audit engagements relating to payables and receivables.
- Mitigate financial, operational, and fraud-related risks.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
- Lead, coach, and develop the Payables and Receivables team.
- Establish clear KPIs and performance standards for the function.
- Partner with operational, commercial, procurement, and customer service teams to improve financial outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers.
Reporting & Insights:
- Prepare and present monthly management reports on:
- Accounts payable performance
- Accounts receivable performance
- Collections trends
- Cash flow metrics
- Working capital performance
- Risk exposure
- Provide strategic recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness across finance operations.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related field.
- CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
- 8-10 years of finance experience, including accounts payable, receivable, and financial operations management.
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience within fintech, payments, banking, financial services, or high-volume transaction environments preferred.
- Proven track record of driving process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, accounting principles, and working capital management.
- Advanced financial analysis and reporting skills.
- Experience with ERP and financial management systems.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and people management capabilities.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
