Student Worker - Digital Accessibility, Office of ADA Coordinator
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Digital Accessibility Student Worker provides Section 508 compliant support for all digital and web platforms are accessible to individuals with disabilities and comply with applicable federal and state accessibility laws and standards, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Section 508, and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). The student worker will assist in converting documents to ensure accessibility to people with disabilities in compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA). This role supports staff that partner with faculty and staff across campus to evaluate accessibility, provide guidance, and support training and outreach efforts that improve the usability of digital resources.
JOB DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Review of digital media will be in conjunction with various offices, IT, Strategic Communication, Athletics, Academic Affairs, etc.
  • Convert and format documents to be compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA
  • Perform Section 508 web-based evaluation and provide recommended remediation
  • Assist in development of online training modules and in-person training related to accessibility and technology
  • Assist in development of resources in support of accessibility, including educational resources, guides, and tutorials.
  • Recommend and assist with remediation of inaccessible digital content.
  • May perform other duties as assigned which are relevant to the position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of ADA Title II requirements and digital accessibility standards.
  • Experience evaluating digital content and platforms for accessibility Strong teaching and technical skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be in good academic standing.
  • Must be currently enrolled or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.25 and have successfully completed 9 credits or more in the most recent fall or spring semester with a GPA of 2.0 or better.
  • Must be proficient with programming tools commonly used in data science projects.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW: This position requires a criminal background check. This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: 10 hours per week. The work schedule for this position will be discussed with the assigned staff member, dependent upon the student’s class schedule.
EXPECTED STARTING SALARY: $15.25 hourly.
