EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent is required. Two years of commercial cleaning is preferred. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license. Two years of commercial cleaning experience preferred. Must be able to use a variety of hand and powered tools.
INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills, and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments.
SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs the general care, routine cleaning, and maintains the appearance of MARTA’s designated areas, as assigned. Periodically removes interior and exterior graffiti. Makes pick up of needed materials from the storerooms and delivers cleaning supplies to various locations. The Serviceperson I position consists of three specific functions. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Work crew consists of one-person. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance surrounding MARTA bus stops. Work involves cleaning up to a 10-foot area around bus stops and shelters, sweeping all paved areas, emptying trash, removing debris and cutting the grassy area surrounding all stops. Operates MARTA maintenance vehicles. During inclement weather, ice/snowstorms, you will be required to assist with the removal of ice and snow, spread sand and spray deicer in rail stations, administration buildings, and/or other areas to be assigned. Trimming trees and shrubbery obstructing patrons or bus operators view.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides light cleaning on a daily basis, performing such tasks as removal of debris and litter.
  • Provides routine heavy cleaning.
  • Completely restores areas damaged by vandalism and graffiti.
  • Provides general cleaning of the shops, offices, restroom areas that include trashing, sweeping floors etc.
  • Trimming trees and shrubbery obstructing patrons or bus operators view.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license

  • Must pass physical examination and drug and alcohol screening.
  • Walks or stands up to 6 hours per shift.
  • Sits for up to an hour per shift (including breaks, lunch, etc.).
  • Must kneel, squat, stoop, or bend to perform tasks.
  • Climbs stairs.
  • Uses a variety of hand and powered tools.
  • Frequently reaches from floor to overhead level.
  • Frequently bends forward at the lower back to perform tasks.
  • Frequently lifts items which weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
