Responsibilities:
- Own assigned rubber molding processes and serve as the technical expert for process performance, stability, documentation, and continuous improvement.
- Reduce scrap, defects, downtime, and process variation using data analysis, root cause investigations, corrective actions, and process optimization techniques.
- Improve cycle time, throughput, process capability, and manufacturing efficiency while maintaining safety, quality, and customer requirements.
- Troubleshoot equipment, tooling, materials, and manufacturing processes in partnership with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Tooling to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
- Lead manufacturing trials, process validations, equipment modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives that deliver measurable operational and financial results.
- Support the evaluation, justification, selection, installation, commissioning, and start-up of new equipment, process technologies, automation, and manufacturing improvements.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, standard work, control plans, and technical knowledge while actively supporting Lean Manufacturing culture, kaizen activities, and operational excellence initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Two or more years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, continuous improvement, molding engineering, or a related manufacturing role.
- Demonstrated success improving manufacturing performance through scrap reduction, process optimization, cost reduction, root cause problem solving, and data-driven decision making.
- Experience leading process improvement projects involving manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, automation, validation activities, or capital improvements.
- Working knowledge of engineering and quality tools such as SPC, DOE, process validation, capability analysis, control plans, FMEA, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
- Experience with rubber, elastomer, plastics, injection molding, compression molding, transfer molding, automotive, medical device, or other high-volume manufacturing environments preferred, including an understanding of molding process fundamentals and manufacturing performance drivers.
- Experience with automation, robotics, Cobots, manufacturing technologies, quality management systems, and continuous improvement initiatives preferred; ability to work independently and influence cross-functional teams through technical expertise and project leadership.
