Energy Project Engineer/Project Manager
Ejov · MELBOURNE, VIC, Australia
About The Role
Our world demands low carbon energy solutions to achieve a Net Zero future.
And as we transition from traditional energy sources to renewable alternatives, you can play a key role in enabling and accelerating this change.
We’ll support you every step of the way as you join us in finding sustainable energy solutions to make a positive impact that will last for generations.
Who are we looking for?
We have a new opportunity for an Energy Project Engineer/Project Manager to join our Victoria & Tasmania region and play a key role in our Energy market. We are seeking an experienced renewable energy professional with a strong understanding of the broad activities required to successfully develop wind, solar and battery energy storage projects through development approval, connection and pre-FID stages.
This is not solely a project management role. Success will depend on understanding how the various technical, commercial, environmental, planning, stakeholder, approvals, connection and delivery workstreams come together to progress a project from concept towards investment decision. A key focus of the role will be to engage with clients and to coordinate, manage and lead GHD resources to successfully deliver to clients. Whilst strong technical capability is important, we are looking for someone who understands the broader project development lifecycle and can help clients navigate the challenges associated with progressing projects from early-stage development through to construction readiness.
The role will ideally be based in our Melbourne or Hobart offices, but we are open to discussions around being based in other GHD offices across the two states.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Leading wind, solar and battery energy storage system projects from early development through late-stage development, Early Contractor Involvement and delivery.
-
Identifying critical development risks and coordinating multidisciplinary teams to develop practical mitigation strategies for clients.
- Acting as Project Engineer and, where appropriate, Project Manager for complex multidisciplinary renewable energy assignments.
- Working closely with developers, asset owners, contractors and other market participants to shape projects, resolve development challenges and create lasting client value.
- Identifying and developing new opportunities, building strong client relationships and positioning GHD earlier in the renewable energy project lifecycle.
- Leading proposals and bringing together technical specialists from across GHD to deliver integrated, commercially sound solutions.
-
Identifying and developing new opportunities, building strong client relationships and positioning GHD earlier in the renewable energy project lifecycle.
-
Supporting embedded client delivery arrangements across Victoria and Tasmania, while contributing to renewable energy projects and pursuits nationally.
What you will bring to the team:
-
Demonstrated experience across the broader renewable energy project development lifecycle, including early development, planning and approvals, stakeholder engagement, network connection, development risk management and progression towards FID.
- Strong understanding of the technical, environmental, planning, stakeholder, commercial and delivery activities required to successfully progress renewable energy projects from concept through development and towards investment decision.
- Proven project management capability, including the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage competing priorities and maintain accountability for project outcomes.
- Strong client-facing and commercial capability, with established relationships across developers, owners, contractors and other renewable energy market participants.
- Ideally RPEV or equivalent professional registration
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related fields is preferred, coupled with proven experience
