Job Description:
Overview:
The Accountant is responsible for performing and supporting accounting and financial activities in accordance with company accounting processes. This position supports invoice review and reconciliation, accounting system entries, payroll-related general ledger activity, financial reporting, audit support, certified payroll reporting, expense report processing, credit applications, accounting documentation, and communication with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, internal departments, and other stakeholders. The Accountant helps ensure financial records, reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation are accurate, timely, complete, and aligned with company policies, accounting standards, project requirements, and Ferrovial expectations.
Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Collect, receive, review, and process invoices, tickets, receipts, expense reports, and other supporting accounting documentation.
  • Review, reconcile, and enter accounting transactions into applicable accounting systems.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related accounting, invoice reconciliation, ticket collection, data entry, and other general accounting duties.
  • Monitor and maintain payroll general ledger accounts and personnel budgetary balances for payroll accounts.
  • Prepare reports at various intervals and frequencies showing departmental, project, or company accounting metrics.
  • Communicate with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, employees, internal departments, and other entities to provide information and answer questions related to accounting activities.
  • Prepare, process, and resolve discrepancies related to invoices, payments, purchase orders, accounting records, and supporting documentation.
  • Support internal and external audits by organizing documentation, preparing reports, and providing requested accounting information.
  • Complete and process credit applications when requested.
  • Prepare and update 401K, 401K Roth, and 401K loan reports.
  • Track and prepare certified payroll reports on a weekly basis.
  • Audit, process, and book employee expense reports.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities as needed.
  • Support accounting process improvements, documentation, and administrative projects assigned.
  • Assist internal departments with accounting-related requests, including IT and HR invoice processing and payment support.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Candidates without a bachelor’s degree who possess two (2) or more years of relevant accounting, finance, bookkeeping, payroll, or administrative accounting experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Experience with accounting, ERP, or financial systems such as SAP, QuickBooks, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, reconciliation, reporting, and financial recordkeeping.
  • Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with accounting, payroll, HR, IT, project teams, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, accountability, and commitment to company policies and procedures.
