Position Overview:
Boeing International Business Development team is currently looking for Senior Manager - International Business Development India on a fixed-term contract of 1 year to join their team in New Delhi , India.
Boeing is seeking a highly distinguished, strategic leader to serve as a vital bridge between Boeing and the Indian defense establishment. This critical role requires an individual with extensive high-level operational experience, deep expertise in defense procurement, and an established personal network within the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Ministry of Defense (MoD).
The successful candidate will leverage operational, technical, and bureaucratic insights to navigate India's complex defense acquisition landscape, mediate high-stakes stakeholder challenges, and expedite key military campaigns to maintain Boeing’s competitive edge.
Position Responsibilities:
Campaign Acceleration & Program Support
- Direct, advance, and resolve stalemates for major strategic campaigns and platforms, including P-8, Apache, Chinook, JDAM, and VIP platforms (777 and BBJ).
- Guide Boeing Global (BG) and Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) teams on co-development initiatives, such as the Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH) opportunity.
- Advise advanced technology teams (e.g., WISK) on operational requirements for load-carrying UAVs in unique terrains.
- Lead technical and integration discussions with key Indian aerospace laboratories and agencies, including ASTE, ADA, SDI, CABS, and the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Project Management Team for complex integrations (e.g., JDAM, SIGINT, COMJAM).
Government & Service Relations
- Act as a primary liaison to the senior leadership of the IAF, Ministry of Defense (MoD), Department of Military Affairs (DMA), and the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS).
- Navigate the rank-conscious defense environment to engage directly with branch heads and higher leadership to unblock long-pending agreements (e.g., Apache & Chinook ASAs).
- Bridge the cultural and structural gap between the operational priorities of the armed forces and the bureaucratic mindset of the MoD civil leadership.
Procurement Strategy & Market Intelligence
- Apply practical, nuanced interpretations of the Defense Acquisition Procedure (DAP) and the Revenue Procedure (DPM) to shape Boeing's commercial proposals and contract negotiations.
- Align Boeing’s long-term offerings with India’s evolving defense priorities, joint service structures, emerging Theatre Commands, and the MoD's Long-Term Integrated Perspective Plans.
- Leverage an intricate understanding of the defense budget cycle and the financial workflows between MoD, Service HQs, and the Finance Division to position campaigns effectively.
Crisis & Stakeholder Management
- Employ advanced behavioral and strategic management principles to mediate differences of opinion and break negotiation deadlocks between Boeing and government stakeholders.
- Provide corporate leadership and strategic direction during national or international crises, leveraging government-level crisis management protocols.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Direct experience commanding operations, administration, and maintenance at forward combat air bases and flying units, with specific expertise in high-altitude operations unique to the Indian subcontinent.
- Minimum profile equivalent to a retired 2-Star Air Force Flag Officer (e.g., Assistant Chief of Air Staff / Assistant Chief of Staff)
- Minimum of 3 years of direct experience within the Acquisition Wing of the Ministry of Defense (MoD) at a senior level (e.g., Deputy Director General), directly processing major procurement cases for DPB, DAC, and CCS approvals.
- Direct experience working within the Integrated Defense Staff HQ, with involvement in formulating strategic national policies, the Defense Minister’s Operational Directive, or the Union War Book.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Background in leading behavioral sciences or strategic management faculties at a premier defense staff college is highly desirable.
- Ability to mediate complex disputes; deep structural knowledge of the Indian defense budget; existing personal connect with the highest echelons of Indian military and civil bureaucracy.

- Typically, 20-25 years related work experience or relevant military experience. Advanced degree (e.g. bachelor, master, etc.) preferred but not required.”
