Local Government Reorganisation
The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028.
If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire County Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.
Throughout this period, our focus remains on delivering excellent services to our communities. By joining us now, you'll play an important role in shaping the future of local government and helping to build a strong new organisation that will serve residents for years to come.
The Facilities Management Service is passionate about the delivery of Council services to the citizens of Lancashire and providing an effective contribution to the realisation of the Council's vision in making Lancashire the best place to live, work, visit and prosper.
With this in mind, we are looking to recruit a Site Facilities Assistant to provide day to day facilities support in a wide range of services, including basic maintenance, presentation of the building and security tasks.
This will be based at our County Hall Headquarters and central buildings, in Preston. But you may be asked on an ad hoc basis, to assist in other FM managed buildings across Lancashire.
Full details of the role and responsibilities, together with requirements in terms of previous experience, and the knowledge, skills, and abilities you'll require to be shortlisted for interview are set out in the attached Job Description & Person Specification.
Please ensure that you fully consider these when completing your application in order to demonstrate how your qualifications, experience, knowledge, and skills match these requirements. Applications that fail to do this will not be taken forward.
In addition to the advertised salary, Lancashire County Council offers a range of benefits, which can be found on our website. We do not hold a sponsorship licence and can only consider applications from candidates who are legally entitled to work in the UK.
If you do not have the right to work in the UK, your application will not progress. Full uniform and PPE will be provided for this role.
Please ensure you have uploaded and attached your supporting statement to evidence how you meet the criteria for the role. The panel may be unable to shortlist you for interview without this evidence.
We reserve the right to close down a vacancy early, before the closing date, if we receive sufficient applications.
Closing Date; 18 October 2026
