SAP S/4HANA Solution Architect - O2C (Accounts Receivable)
METRO/MAKRO · Pune, MH, India
About The Role
Purpose of the role
Based at METRO Digital India in Pune, the SAP S/4HANA Solution Architect O2C will own the end-to-end solution architecture for Order to Cash within LUCA. The role combines deep functional understanding of receivables and sales-to-finance processes with the technical judgement required to govern integrations, extensions and implementation decisions. Working with Process Leads, Process Owners, country teams, technology teams and implementation partners, the architect will ensure that SAP AR, SAP SD, Serrala Autobank and connected systems operate as one coherent solution.
Your responsibilities
Solution architecture and design
- Own the end-to-end solution architecture for the O2C process stream across SAP S/4HANA Finance and connected solutions, ensuring alignment with the LUCA global template and METRO architecture principles.
- Translate business requirements into coherent functional and technical solution designs covering customer master dependencies, sales-to-billing integration, accounts receivable, incoming payments, bank statement processing, clearing, credit-related integration and financial reporting impacts.
- Lead and support Fit-to-Standard workshops, identify gaps and assess whether requirements should be addressed through standard functionality, process change, approved extensions or interfaces.
- Advise Process Leads and Process Owners on architectural decisions, solution options, dependencies and implications for operations, controls, data and surrounding systems.
- Review and approve end-to-end designs, configuration concepts, functional specifications and integration designs within the assigned architecture scope.
Integration and architectural governance
- Ensure consistent integration across SAP AR, SAP SD, Serrala Autobank and relevant upstream and downstream partner systems.
- Oversee interfaces, extensions and enhancements, minimising unnecessary deviation from SAP standard and protecting solution maintainability.
- Identify cross-stream dependencies with Finance, banking, master data, integration, security, reporting and country rollout teams, and drive them to clear ownership and resolution.
- Ensure solution decisions and deviations are documented, governed and traceable through the appropriate LUCA design and change forums.
Testing, deployment and stabilisation
- Define architecture-relevant acceptance criteria and support preparation of integration, end-to-end, regression and user-acceptance testing.
- Support defect analysis and resolution, including review and approval of solution corrections and required transports within the O2C scope.
- Provide architectural input to data migration, cutover planning, system-readiness assessment and go-live decision-making.
- Support post-go-live stabilisation, analyse recurring issues and identify opportunities for solution and process optimisation.
Experience and knowledge
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Informatics, Computer Science, Finance or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of SAP experience with substantial responsibility for O2C or accounts-receivable solution design in complex transformation or implementation programmes.
- Deep functional and solution-architecture expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance Accounts Receivable and its integration with SAP Sales and Distribution.
- Hands-on experience with incoming-payment and bank-statement processes; practical knowledge of Serrala Autobank is required.
- Understanding of customer accounting, billing and accounting integration, open-item management, clearing, dunning, payment allocation and reconciliation.
- Experience designing SAP and non-SAP interfaces and coordinating dependencies across business processes, data, integration and reporting.
- Experience with SAP FSCM capabilities is advantageous.
- Experience supporting Fit-to-Standard, testing, migration, cutover and post-go-live stabilisation across at least one full implementation lifecycle.
- SAP Finance certification and retail-industry experience are advantageous.
Ways of working
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate business needs, solution options, risks and architectural trade-offs.
- Clear and articulate communication with business, functional and technical stakeholders at different levels of seniority.
- Ability to facilitate decisions, challenge constructively and build alignment across process teams, technology teams and implementation partners.
- High level of ownership, quality orientation and attention to detail in a complex multinational programme environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English; willingness and ability to travel when required.
Measures of success
- O2C designs provide an integrated, scalable and supportable solution aligned with the LUCA global template.
- Business requirements are translated into clear architecture decisions with understood process, data, control and integration impacts.
- Cross-stream dependencies and design risks are identified early and resolved before they affect testing or rollout milestones.
- Custom developments and interfaces are justified, governed and kept to the minimum necessary.
- The O2C solution is testable, deployable and stable, with defects and recurring issues resolved sustainably.
