Project Quality Inspector B
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
This position is accountable for performing and documenting various Quality inspections of Oil & Gas process equipment, including structural and piping welding NDE (non-destructive
examination), industrial coatings characterization, material receiving inspection, electrical and instrumentation (E&I) walkdown, pressure testing coordination and machining dimensional
inspections.
DIMENSIONS:

  • Responsible for the welding, machining, and coatings inspection of 20+ gas turbine structural skids per month.
  • Coordinate welding NDE and material traceability verification of 25+ piping spool segments per day.
  • Own inspection activities of 20+ material inspection orders per week for fabrication of piping and structural assemblies.
  • Host multiple customers and 3rd party inspectors for in-process inspection of balance of plant process piping, structural assemblies, and gas turbine structural skids.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

  • Report to the Quality Production Supervisor
  • Interface and communicate with customers and 3rd party inspectors for in-process quality inspections.
  • Collaborate with other Solar departments including Quality Engineers, Construction Services Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Value Stream Management, Production Supervisors, Project Management, and NDE Suppliers.
  • Perform inspections in indoor/outdoor fabrication areas and shop floor environments.
  • Support simultaneous project tasks and duties, to meet production schedules.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Comply with TurboFab’s Environmental, Health and Safety Programs, Regulations and Guidelines.
  • Collect, validate, and document material test reports (MTRs) for incoming materials, welded structural assemblies, and welded piping spools
  • Perform visual testing (VT) of structural and piping weld assemblies.
  • Request, coordinate and document results of welding NDE activities with supplier’s test technicians, including magnetic particle (MT), liquid penetrant (PT), ultrasonic (UT),

radiographic (RT), and positive material identification (PMI).

  • Host and lead fabrication inspection points with customers and 3rd party inspectors, for verification of compliance to Inspection & Test Plans and prepare final inspection reports.
  • Audit and verify satisfactory application and characterization of industrial coatings, in compliance with applicable engineering specification, engineering drawings, paint forms, and project Inspection Test Plan
  • Prepare piping pressure testing packages, verify pressure testing configurations, compile testing data charts, validate equipment calibration certificates, and deliver hard/digital copies for customer approval.
  • Assists in training other less experienced Welding Inspectors as needed.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • This position is for fully competent and qualified Q.C. Inspectors that have three to five years of experience and require minimal supervision in performing the job.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in pipe fitting or welding
  • Willingness and availability to work overtime as needed to support production schedules.
  • Experience in welding NDE, receiving material inspection, structural welding, pipe welding, pipefitting, machining, assembly and/or fabrication environments of Oil and Gas processequipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, guidance notes, work instructions, engineering specifications, and industry codes (i.e., ASTM, ASME, AWS, API).
  • Highly qualified candidates will hold one or multiple of the following technical certifications:Certified Weld InspectorAMPP-NACE Level 1.ASNT Visual Testing (VT) Level 2.Computer and MS office suite tools literacy.High School Diploma or equivalent.

Summary Pay Range:
$28.57 - $42.85
