Job Summary
Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, Axiom, with the spin planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support Axiom, a company focused on critical digital infrastructure and delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.


To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Head of Manufacturing Engineering, located in the UK.
The Head of Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for leading the Manufacturing Engineering function, driving operational excellence, process optimisation, automation, industrialisation, and continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing business.
The role ensures manufacturing processes are safe, efficient, scalable, and capable of delivering best-in-class quality, cost, and delivery performance. As a key member of the Operations Leadership Team, the Head of Manufacturing Engineering develops engineering strategies that support business growth, capacity expansion, new product introduction, and long-term competitiveness.
What a typical day looks like:

• Develop and implement the Manufacturing Engineering strategy aligned to business objectives.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of manufacturing and process engineers.
• Establish engineering standards, best practices, and governance across all manufacturing operations.
• Create succession plans and talent development strategies for the engineering function.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Drive manufacturing productivity improvements through Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Lead value stream optimisation and waste elimination initiatives.
• Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), labour efficiency, and production throughput.
• Support achievement of operational KPIs relating to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Implement standard work and best practice methodologies across production facilities.
• Lead the industrialisation of new products from design release through volume production.
• Ensure robust manufacturing processes are developed, validated, and documented.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering and Supply Chain teams to ensure manufacturability and cost competitiveness.
• Establish process capability requirements and validation plans.
• Manage manufacturing readiness reviews and production launch activities.
• Identify opportunities to automate manufacturing processes and reduce operational costs.
• Lead capital investment projects including equipment selection, installation, and commissioning.
• Ensure production processes can meet forecast demand and customer expectations.
• Partner with Quality teams to ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements.
• Support root cause investigations and corrective action programmes.
• Ensure engineering processes comply with ISO standards and company procedures.
• Maintain process documentation, PFMEAs, control plans, and engineering change controls.
• Champion Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
• 8+ years in switchgear or mission‑critical electrical equipment manufacturing.
• Experience with e‑house/prefabricated power room production.
• Proven track record managing, leading and mentoring manufacturing staff to develop high performance collaborative teams.
• Strong people management skills
• The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, enthusiastic and conscientious with a high standard of attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels and across regions.
