About The Role

Responsible to drive business development and chartering activities in Malaysia, deliver profitable and paid commercial coverage for Malaysia fleet + Improve the overall branding and reputation of BSSB in Malaysia market

  • Manage and drive the BSSB Commercial function to identify and secure profitable charters to achieve high commercial coverage and increasing year on year backlog for BSSB fleet (including 3rd party vessels) to meet and outperform the Budget for each Financial Year
  • Work with CEO (BSSB) to execute the Malaysia market strategy for next 5 years and beyond
  • Work with CEO (BSSB) to develop key strategic relations with Malaysian customers, potential clients, business leaders, business partners and government authorities
  • Ensure BU receivables < 3 months revenue
  • Ensure 100% compliance and on time delivery with all commercial function policies and processes by BSSB Commercial team
  • Develop & Maintain updated map of client universe for Malaysia, providing market terrain analysis updates on regular basis
  • Develop & Maintain organisational charts identifying key “buyers”, “users” and “influencers” for high priority clients in Malaysia
  • Log all meeting reports and opportunities in Poseidon or such other marketing tools and also email such reports to Commercial Manager – EHBU, SVP – EHBU and Group CEO in Singapore office
  • Work with Tenders & Contracts Team in EBBU to track open bids or proposals submitted and ensure timely follow up action with Clients until award outcome
  • Support budget on commercial aspect and support CEO (BSSB) for reporting of financial performance of BSSB on commercial aspect
  • Represent Company to attend industry events in Malaysia to promote our services
  • Provide reporting or updates on the commercial aspect in Monthly Management Review meeting to Senior Management
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Maritime Studies or related discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in business development, chartering, or commercial roles in the offshore oil & gas / marine industry
  • Solid understanding of vessel chartering, tender processes, and charter party terms
  • Good commercial acumen — able to assess market rates, structure proposals, and evaluate deal risk/margin
  • Proven experience negotiating commercial contracts and closing deals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build strong client relationships
  • Strong team player who collaborates well across commercial, operations, and project functions
  • Self-driven, disciplined with the ability to manage multiple opportunties and priorties independently
