Corning Hospital is seeking a per diem housekeeper to join our dedicated team serving Corning, NY, and nearby communities.
As a Housekeeper in our Environmental Services team, you play a vital part in creating a safe, clean, and healing environment for patients, families, and staff. Your work directly supports Guthrie’s mission of delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care across the region.
Housekeepers ensures a clean, safe, and aseptic environment across inpatient, outpatient, and office areas. This role supports patient care by performing cleaning, disinfection, waste handling, and equipment maintenance while delivering exceptional customer service.
Your Workday:
Per Diem- Includes weekends and weekdays
A per diem position is an as-needed job where you work only when the employer needs coverage, rather than on a fixed full-time or part-time schedule.

Guthrie Corning Hospital is a 65-bed hospital that opened its new facility in 2014 and serves patients throughout the region. Guthrie emphasizes a patient-centered environment where safety, cleanliness, comfort, and efficiency are priorities throughout the hospital.
Position Summary: This position carries the responsibility for the provision and maintenance of the cleanliness and the appearance of the hospital.
Education, License & Cert: This position has a minimum requirement of grammar school. This position requires the ability to follow written and oral instruction.
Experience: On the job training is provided for this position.
Essential Functions: 1. Maintains cleanliness and appearance in all areas of the hospital facility by following department policies and procedures utilizing the proper chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
- Maybe responsible for transporting hazardous, regulated, and non‐regulated waste to designated areas.
- Movement of light equipment and furniture.
- Collection and delivery of soiled and clean linen.
- Assists in the orientation of new employees.
- Calculates total monies received and compiles daily register reports.
- Provides excellent customer service to all contacts.
Other Duties: 1. It is understood that this description is not intended to be all‐inclusive and that other duties may be assigned as necessary in the performance of this position.
- Recognizes and reports potential problems to the supervisor or nursing manager on the floor.
The pay ranges from $17.47-$24.26
This position is part of the collective bargaining unit.”
