Weight Room Student Supervisor

The Weight Room Student Supervisor is responsible for the daily oversight of the weight room
and fitness facility, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all patrons. This role
involves monitoring equipment use, enforcing facility policies, responding to emergencies, and
providing basic guidance to patrons on safe workout practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Open and/or close the weight room according to posted hours, including equipment
• setup and shutdown procedures
• Monitor patron activity to ensure safe and proper use of free weights, machines, and cardio equipment
• Check IDs and verify eligibility for facility access per university policy
• Enforce facility rules and policies
• Perform regular walkthroughs of the space to identify safety hazards, malfunctioning equipment, or maintenance needs
• Wipe down and organize equipment throughout shifts; oversee general cleanliness of the facility
• Respond promptly and appropriately to injuries, accidents, or emergencies, including administering first aid/CPR when certified and contacting emergency services as needed
• Provide basic guidance to patrons on equipment usage and proper form upon request
• Report equipment damage, safety concerns, or policy violations to full-time staff
• Maintain accurate records (e.g., incident reports, attendance logs, equipment checklists)
• Assist with special events, facility reservations, or program support as needed

Compensation and Benefits

• Rate of Pay: $16.45/hour
• Minnesota Sick and Safe Time
• Minnesota Paid Family and Medical Leave
• Not eligible for health insurance benefits

Required:

• Currently enrolled as a student at the university
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for the duration of shifts
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Comfortable enforcing rules and addressing policy violations professionally
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within a specified
• timeframe)

Work Schedule:

• Shifts vary based on facility hours and staffing needs, including early mornings, evenings, and
• weekends. Typical commitment: 15-20 hours per week.
• Monday-Thursday: 6pm-9:00pm
• Friday: 5:00-8:00pm
