Job Description:
Want to work and enhance your skills in a global Agile software team? We can offer an exciting position as an INTERN in one of the software development teams! It is expected that you have some programming skills and want to further develop and grow by participating in the development, debugging and deployment of the MPLAB extensions for Visual Studio Code.
The successful applicant will work with a team of experienced engineers and cooperate with other teams worldwide. The teams develop and maintain a set of extensions for Visual Studio Code called MPLAB. The MPLAB extensions are used to provide embedded development capabilities to all our customers, for all of Microchip devices. Together with other team members, you will be enabling and supporting a large user base of embedded developers to develop their applications, by creating and enhancing features in the MPLAB extensions.
Getting to know your users, and the challenges they face, is important to help them be as productive as possible with the best tools suited for their job.
We utilize a range of different programming and scripting languages, e.g., TypeScript, Java, and Python. We're working on fine tuning the continuous build and integration environment (using Jenkins), making the development environment as effective as possible.
Jira is used to follow up stories and bugs and is used to have visibility in the global development environment across teams.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Applicant should be studying Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent, some programming experience is beneficial.
Knowledge in the following fields is beneficial but not a must:

• Software (and embedded) development
• Git workflows
• React web development
• Continuous integration using Jenkins
• Good communications skills, both written and verbal, are key to working with the company divisions to capture the requirements of the content to be designed.
