Vetting Officer

Vetting is conducted to help identify, assess & manage risk relating to areas such as public safety and confidence, operational safety, corruption and integrity. Based in the Professional Standards Department, the Vetting Unit undertakes various background checks using relevant IT systems.

About the Role

The role of the Vetting Officer is to undertake such checks and identify any issues that may compromise our operational, ethical and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Be an effective communicator who has experience of providing excellent customer service (internal and / or external customers)
• Be able to demonstrate good organisational skills, including how you prioritise and manage your workload effectively
• Have good IT skills and be proficient in using software packages
• Be able to work as part of a team and also independently with limited supervision
• Have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

Salary and Shifts
Salary: Police Staff Grade 4 (£28914 - £32613)
Shift pattern: Monday to Friday (0800 x 1600)

Selection Process

Vetting Checks - You must successfully complete the required level of Management vetting and Counter Terrorism clearance before starting the role. This may include providing information relating to your background and financial history as part of the vetting process.Click herefor more information.

Medical Checks - Appointment to this role is subject to successfully completing medical checks. This may include a drugs test and, where required, a fitness assessment.

Reference Checks - You will need to provide details covering at least five years of employment, education or other relevant activity history.
