Hospital - GI/Endoscopy RN Manager

The Hospital GI/Endoscopy RN Manager provides clinical and operational leadership for hospital-based gastroenterology and endoscopy services. Provides direct oversight of Registered Nurses and GI/Endoscopy technical staff and is accountable for staffing, workforce development, clinical operations, equipment and supplies, financial performance, quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and patient care coordination. Ensures safe, efficient, and patient-centered delivery of diagnostic, therapeutic, and advanced endoscopic procedures and promotes effective collaboration among gastroenterologists, anesthesia providers, nursing, technical staff, and other hospital departments.

• Oversees patient care operations for hospital-based gastroenterology and endoscopy services, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, high-quality, patient-centered care and coordination of diagnostic, therapeutic, and advanced endoscopic services.
• Provides leadership and direct operational oversight for Registered Nurses and GI/Endoscopy Technicians, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care and coordination of advanced endoscopic services.
• Promotes staff competency and professional development in procedural workflow and related areas aligned with the technical competencies and responsibilities established for the Endoscopic GI Technician role.
• Ensures departmental readiness for scheduled and emergent diagnostic, therapeutic, and advanced endoscopic procedures represented within the existing Endoscopic GI Technician scope.
• Oversees the safe and effective use of GI/endoscopy equipment, specialized procedural technology, and other equipment utilized by the department.
• Provides managerial oversight of endoscope and instrument reprocessing and infection prevention practices, in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, manufacturers' instructions for use, and infection prevention standards.
• Develops staffing plans and manages workforce utilization based on procedural volume, patient acuity, procedure complexity, workload, productivity expectations, and department needs; monitors staffing effectiveness.
• Manages department-specific performance standards and key performance indicators (KPIs). Provides feedback and implements corrective action or improvement strategies as appropriate.
• Evaluates patient care delivery,workflows, andprocesses and manages continuous quality and performance improvement initiatives.
• Ensures departmental compliance and ongoing readiness for regulatory and accreditation requirements, institutional, divisional, and unit-based policies, and procedures; conducts and/or participates in readiness audits, assesses compliance with applicable standards, identifies opportunities for improvement, and maintains knowledge of requirements governing clinical and procedural services.
• Collaborates with physicians, nursing, technical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and organizational leadership to support department operations, resolve issues, communicate findings, and improvement opportunities to ensure resources and processes support GI/endoscopy services.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
• Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices, policies, and standards related to hospital-based gastroenterology/endoscopy nursing and procedural services.
• Demonstrated clinical expertise in gastroenterology/endoscopy, program development, quality/performance improvement, and nursing leadership.
• Knowledge of diagnostic, therapeutic, and advanced gastrointestinal procedures and the nursing and technical support required for safe care.
• Ability to direct and contribute to initiatives and processes while creating a collaborative and respectful multidisciplinary team environment and improving clinical and operational workflows.
• Knowledge of business and management principles involved planning, resource allocation, human resources management, leadership techniques, productivity, and coordination of people and resources.
• Knowledge of infection prevention principles aseptic practices, endoscope handling, leak testing, high-level disinfection, sterilization when applicable, storage, and tracking processes.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and respond promptly to emergent patient care, staffing, equipment, and procedural requirements.
• Knowledge of GI/endoscopy equipment, supplies, procedural instrumentation, and technologies used in routine and advanced endoscopic procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and prioritize departmental workload and staffing.
• Ability to develop, evaluate, and maintain staff competencies for Registered Nurses and GI/Endoscopy Technicians
• Ability to interpret and apply operational, quality, safety, financial, productivity, and performance data.

Education:

Bachelor's of Science in Nursing required
Certification/Licensure:

• Current Texas Board of Nursing (or Compact State) RN license; Or a Temporary Texas RN License (Permanent TX license within 90 days upon hire).
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, within 7 days of hire.
