Job Description:
The Iowa State University Athletics Department is seeking hard working, responsible, motivated candidates for an entry-level, associate position supporting the women's basketball strength and conditioning program. This position will work under the direction of the Director of WBB Strength and Conditioning and the Director of WBB Operations and will be exposed to professional aspects of collegiate athletics strength activities in a progressive learning mode.
Position Details:
Structured similar to a post-grad internship. Hourly pay plus overtime. December 2026- March 2027. Weekly hours will vary.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities May Include:
-Lead strength, agility, and conditioning workouts as designed by the director to help athletic performance excel (weight lifting sessions, conditioning, warm ups, cool downs).
-Teach and demonstrate proper techniques and safety, conduct performance testing, and help motivate athletes.
-Attend practices to observe, run drills, and operate Catapult.
-Capture data (ie: Catapult, Force Plate), prepare performance reports on student-athletes, and assist in analyzing the data to add value.
-Work collaboratively with the Sports Medicine professionals and Coaching staff.
-Assist in organization, safety, and sanitation of assigned weight room.
-Establish and maintain effective interactions with students, colleagues, and coaches.
-Commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of the University, Big 12 Conference, and NCAA.
The ideal candidate will have technical knowledge related to S&C and basketball; database and analytical skills; and good teaching, motivational, and communication skills. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. Must be available and flexible to work evenings and/or weekends at all assigned practices and workouts.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the CSCCa.
CPR/AED and First Aid certification required by start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree(s) in related field.
Work experience with strength and conditioning for competitive athletes.
Strength and conditioning services that supported collegiate or professional women's basketball.
Experience with Catapult, GPS and Force Plate technology.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
