Part-Time Early Childhood Coach and Field Experience Coordinator

The Part-Time Early Childhood Coach and Field Experience Coordinator is a master’s level credentialed, grant-funded role (through December 2027) starting August 2025. Based from both the Anderson and Muncie campus service areas.
This 20-25 hour-per-week part time position supports field site mentorship of classroom teachers who support our students through field placements, Model Classroom coordination including in-classroom coaching, leading a Community of Practice across all Model Classroom
teachers, and assisting the department with the curation and creation of curriculum kits and offering of professional learning skills trainings across the counties served (Jay, Delaware, Henry, Madison, Hancock).
Additionally this position assists the Assistant Department Chair
with field site coordination and placement of students at local affiliated field sites across the region.
The role includes some flexibility in scheduling with 50-75% travel for model classroom site visits and 25-50% on-campus work, with mileage reimbursement for field site visits provided.
Monday-Friday, day-time hours are required for site visits and mentor coaching. Evening and weekend hours may be required occasionally for assistance with skills training or for attendance at required department meetings.

Key Responsibilities

Field Site Coordination
○ Establish and maintain high-quality field placement partnerships.
○ Match students to appropriate field sites.
○ Maintain placement records and collaborate on new site approvals.
Mentor Coaching & Model Classroom Support
○ Coach mentor teachers, providing resources and professional development through in-classroom coaching and virtual reflection.
○ Align model classroom mentoring and professional development opportunities with the early learning program goals and Ivy Tech NAEYC accreditation standards.
○ Facilitate engagement with T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood Indiana scholarships or other available funding opportunities for students.
○ Organize and promote professional development opportunities for mentors and students.
○ Oversee classroom needs, materials procurement, and mentor teacher stipends.
Other Duties to Support the Department
○ Document progress, ensure accountability, and support accreditation and grant reporting.
○ Assist with the curation of curriculum kits for local early educators to check out.
○ Occasionally assist with planning and preparations for various professional development skills training opportunities (these may be in the evenings or occasionally on weekends)
○ Assist, as needed, with CDA Verification Visits
○ Other duties that contribute to the vision and mission of the department may be assigned.

Qualifications

Required:
Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in early childhood education, including
teaching, career coaching, and field placement coordination.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with educational institutions and community partners.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with learning management systems and other educational technologies.
Preferred:
Knowledge of apprenticeship programs, workforce development initiatives, and
scholarship programs such as T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood Indiana.
Familiarity with NAEYC Higher Education Accreditation Standards and Competencies.
Hold or be able to quickly acquire the Council for Professional Recognition’s
Professional Development Specialist (PDS) credential for preschool and infant toddler to qualify to complete CDA verification visits, as needed.
