Senior Software Engineering Manager

Honeywell Aerospace Technologies is redefining the future of aviation through next-generation Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). We are seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead a world-class engineering organization responsible for developing, integrating, validating, and certifying advanced avionics and autonomous flight solutions for emerging aerospace platforms.

In this role, you will lead the engineering team delivering avionics software, flight deck applications, autonomy-enabling technologies, and aircraft integration solutions. You will be accountable for delivering innovative solutions that meet customer commitments, achieve business objectives, and strengthen Honeywell's leadership position in Advanced Air Mobility.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Customer Outcomes

• Lead delivery of critical UAM/UAS software programs, ensuring achievement of cost, schedule, quality, and customer commitments.
• Partner with global business leaders to define technology roadmaps aligned with market needs and strategic growth initiatives.
• Contribute to technology pursuits, customer proposals, and new opportunities.
• Build trusted relationships with global OEM customers and technology partners.

Engineering Leadership

• Lead systems & software engineering team responsible for design, development, integration, validation, and certification of aerospace software products.
• Drive execution excellence across the product lifecycle incorporating improvement culture driving reduction in cycle time, standardized workflows and quality improvements.
• Establish technology direction for advanced avionics, autonomous systems, alternative navigation, AI/ML-enabled capabilities, and future flight deck solutions.
• Promote engineering best practices, model-based development, automation, simulation, digital engineering, and continuous improvement.

People Leadership

• Build, coach, and develop a high-performing engineering organization.
• Create an inclusive, engaging, and high-accountability culture aligned with Honeywell Aerospace Behaviors.
• Drive talent acquisition, succession planning, competency development, and career growth opportunities.
• Mentor future technical and people leaders across the organization.

Program & Operational Excellence

• Own engineering execution metrics including quality, productivity, milestone delivery, and customer satisfaction.
• Drive risk identification, mitigation, and resolution across the programs.
• Ensure compliance with defined processes and aerospace industry standards.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration across Systems, Safety, Certification, Cybersecurity, Project Engineering, and Product Management teams.

Innovation & Strategic Growth

• Advance Honeywell Aerospace's capabilities in autonomous flight, AI/ML, alternative navigation, and next-generation avionics platforms.
• Foster partnerships with universities, research institutions and industry organizations.

YOU MUST HAVE

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• At least 15+ years of experience in systems & software engineering, embedded systems, aerospace systems, or safety-critical product development.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex technology programs.
• Experience managing customer and stakeholder relationships in a technical environment.

WE VALUE

• Master’s degree in engineering
• Experience in Aerospace, Avionics, UAS/UAM, Autonomous Systems, Robotics, Automotive Safety Systems, or other regulated industries.
• Knowledge of DO-178C, ARP4754A, ARP4761, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and software certification processes.
• Experience with SCADE, embedded software development, flight deck applications, avionics integration, and real-time systems.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to balance technical strategy, execution excellence and business objectives.
